Acura MDX 2025: Expected Restyling and New Technologies for the Premium Crossover

Since the MY remains unchanged, we have the right to expect a lot from its successor. The Acura MDX will undergo a major redesign to offer its buyers the latest words in design, technology, driving.

SUV Acura MDX

Honda’s premium division is developing the new model and the first spy photos are here. Still, the official announcement is missing. However, we believe that Acura is not late. There is enough time to prepare the new model for the debut as a MY.

We can hear that the carmaker is planning bug styling updates. However, the Acura MDX will keep a familiar appearance – aggressive and stylish. Of course, the size is also pretty much the same, so the cabin can accommodate three rows of seats. The equipment in the cockpit offers another level of luxury . Head-up display and possible autopilot are some things that we can often find when reading the rumors.

Also, we expect the under-hood refresh. The current model offers a hybrid setup. The next step could be the PHEV system. The SUV’s closest sibling, Honda Pilot , has been spied with plug-in technology. Still, the automaker doesn’t offer the base hybrid configuration for its non-premium SUV. There are many reasons to eagerly wait for the Acura MDX . The SUV will definitely be more competitive in the market. The competition in the midsize three-row luxury class is pretty tough, but we believe in Honda and Acura.

The price will increase slightly. The SUV is one of the cheapest in the segment (at least the base version). The new price will be closer to €48,000 (Euro). Acura MDX Type S spy photos

The first pictures of the MDX are being tested. However, fans noticed some interesting details. Aggressive stance caught their attention and most of them had a strange feeling about the SUV. However, when the rumors about Type S spread, we found a connection between these two.

For example, we can see the quad-pipe exhaust, which suggests there is a monster under the hood. However, we still don’t know what will power it. According to rumors, the hybrid setup is likely. If the MDX is converted to PHEV, this configuration will be able to produce 400 horsepower, which is more than enough for the performance SUV.

Engines, hybrid and technical data

Under the hood of the base version remains a trustworthy V6 unit. A 3.5-liter engine can produce 280 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed power router distributes power to the front wheels. AWD is a highlight of the current version and we believe engineers will improve it for the Acura MDX. The so-called Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) provides an excellent driving impression. Traction, balance, response… everything is there.

Optionally, you can choose a hybrid setup. The same gasoline unit is connected to an electric power bank. In this case, you can count on 320 horsepower, which is 10 ponies more than the Lexus RX 450h . This time, a seven-speed DCT transmission is a pair. The fuel economy of the mid-size SUV jumps to 27 mpg with this setup.

The new Acura MDX could become a plug-in hybrid. We expect the company to take the game to a new level. In addition, fans are pinning their hopes on the Honda pilot’s test mule. The non-premium SUV was caught with the PHEV opening above the front wheel. We can read about this version for a long time. MDX has already used the base hybrid system, and the plug-in is a logical upgrade for the season.

Optional packages

In addition to the standard model, there are numerous upgrades available for the MDX. We have already mentioned hybrid and PHEV drive systems, SH-AWD and Type S. The company will also carry over the A-Spec package. You will not get the model with improved performance. This suite offers cosmetic tuning with unique wheels, grille and interior. Currently, it costs €3,500 (Euro).

If you’re willing to spend extra, we recommend the Advance and Entertainment package. Huge optional displays and premium audio with wireless headphones are cool upgrades for long trips. The Advance suite adds LED fog lights, third-row USB ports ventilated from buckets, and a 360-degree camera.
