This will be a redesign for the popular sedan model and will include some exterior and interior improvements. New safety equipment and new technology are also announced, and the virtual Audi cockpit will finally be integrated here. There are also a whole host of new powertrains that will power the sedan, sportback, three-door and convertible forms announced.
The Audi A3 model made its debut in 1996. Originally it was built as a three-door hatchback and offered by the Volkswagen Group. Now we are in the third generation incarnation, which began production in 2012. The sedan version of the car was originally offered in Germany and later went on sale in the UK. It’s time for these models to get the revamp they deserve.
The release date is something we expect to drop very soon, but with the numerous innovations we’ve received for the Audi A3, we’ve also learned the price. This just means a release is coming soon and imminent. Read all about it in our review here.
When is the release date for the Audi A3 predicted?
As far as we know, the Audi A3 should make its debut in early . But this latest news might bring it a bit closer to us than we expected. The model will likely launch this year, but customers around the world and in their respective markets may still have to be patient and wait for the car to appear in .
What is the new Audi A3 price?
The price of the Audi A3 has just been announced. The sedan version will be offered in three trims, with the Premium version costing €34,200 (Euro), the Premium Plus €37,450 (Euro) and the Prestige €43,150 (Euro) as the base RRP.
What are the external changes to the Audi A3?
Although the exterior of the Audi A3 features some significant changes, none of them are so highly regarded that they dramatically change the face of the car. The grille towards the front remains but now has sharper points, while the headlights have a zig-zag movement on the bottom. The air vents are slightly smaller and there is a horizontal splitter on the outer edge. All in all, the car looks sportier and more aggressive when viewed from the front.
The side of the car still has a double body line for the lower body. It provides a 3D appearance in the lower area of the doors. The models come with 16-inch wheels as standard, but 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheels are offered for the newly updated car.
The rear also retains its overall design. But there is a small lip in the rear trunk lid and the overall shape of the taillights. The taillights now have a sharper point on the upper outside corner. Also, a new body line runs between the reflectors at each corner of the fascia.
Interior update?
The interior of the Audi A3 is almost untouched. It may seem like a disappointment, but they decided to keep the interior almost intact. The overall layout and design are essentially identical, with the only noticeable change being the circular air vents that have more detail. The big news for this version, however, is the introduction of Audi’s virtual cockpit, which comes with a new digital instrument cluster. On it there is a screen with a diagonal of 12.3 inches and two different modes.
In addition, the MMI system gets an upgrade with a new menu structure that resembles that of a smartphone. The rotary knob for the center console remains, and a 7-inch display is used as standard. It is also capable of displaying Google Earth and Google Street, as well as real-time traffic information. The car also comes with an Audi Connect package that offers a 4G LTE connection with a SIM card for the European models. What is the chosen powertrain?
The Audi A3 also saw a lot of changes in terms of powertrain options. There are six engines available in total, three gasoline and three diesel. Perhaps the most notable inclusion is the three-cylinder 1.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine that makes 115 horsepower and 147.5 pound-feet of torque. After that comes the 1.4-liter TFSI COD four-cylinder that makes 150 horsepower and 184.4 pound-feet of torque. The top gasoline version is the all-new 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder that offers 190 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.
The diesel side of the lineup features an all-new entry-level 1.6-liter TDI rated at 110 horsepower. The 2.0-liter TDI will be offered in two trims. The first, which will come out at the car’s launch, will deliver 150 horsepower and 250.8 pound-feet of torque, while the second, which will be available sometime after launch, will deliver 184 horsepower and 280.3 pound-feet of torque. You can pair the engines with a six-speed manual transmission or the seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission.
0-62 mph per hour acceleration and top speed
The Audi A3 is the top prospect in its segment and can also offer amazing acceleration numbers. The estimated offer will amount to 7.2 seconds needed to reach 100 km per hour from 0 with a top speed of 130 mph.
What are the fuel consumption figures for the Audi A3 ?
The new Audi A3 will likely offer different fuel economy ratings than now. The model will likely get its stats in accordance with the new powertrain. According to certain estimates, the model may be able to get 26 mpg city, 35 highway, 29 combined, or switch to 24/31/27 mpg with the AWD option.
ADAmensions and size
The interior of the Audi A3 has not changed. Compared to the competing models, it offers a good measurement, which is much needed for the interior design. The car offers enough space and comfort for the passengers and even does a better job than the Mercedes CLA-class model. Overall, the Audi A3 is 175.5 inches long and has a wheelbase of 103.4 inches.
Security
The new Audi A3 will carry the reputation of the previous A3 models, which already had high safety standards. The IIHS and NHTSA already value this car highly and this will be even greater if we take into account that they add automatic emergency braking to a standard set of offered equipment for the car. Also standard is a new system that protects passengers from the impending impact by rolling up the windows, closing the sunroof and automatically fastening the seat belts. Some advanced offers will only be available through packages or through higher trims.
What are the competing cars?
The Audi A3 is perhaps the top model in the segment and is not easily knocked off the top. Although there are many competing vehicles that may have a similar offering as this one, not many of them are capable of competing against this car. Worthy competitors include the Buick Regal and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class models.
