For this occasion, the German manufacturer is preparing many interesting novelties and, as you might assume, the focus will be on changes in the design. We see a typical design with many new details at both ends of the vehicle. In addition, many reports also indicate novelties inside.

Another big news coming soon is a new Sportback version. For those unfamiliar with Audi’s naming policy, this is a pair-like version that comes with a sloping roof, adding a bit of dynamism. Both variants will launch in the fall, but exact details are yet to be announced.

Design

This mid-cycle update brings a lot of interesting changes. We’re talking about one of the most competitive segments of the automotive industry, so the number of changes will be greater than what we usually see from the Ingolstadt-based automaker. The first thing that comes to mind is, of course, styling. The new version will include changes in various aspects, especially at the front. Of course, the new face will be adapted to the brand’s new design language, which means sharp lines and more aggressive styling with a larger grille. Some changes may also be made to the rear end.

In addition to the new front, the German manufacturer will also unveil the new body style of the popular crossover. Of course, it is the Audi Q5 Sportback, which is a coupe version with a sloping roof and a more aggressive overall stance. Apart from different rear sections, we don’t expect too many significant changes in terms of design, although there is always enough room for some exclusive details.

Inner

The current model already looks very impressive on the inside and features one of the most luxurious cabins in the class. The materials are fantastic while everything looks very opulent. However, various reports suggest that this mid-cycle refresh will bring new things inside as well. As you might assume, changes would be made to the front where we could see some improvements to the center stack as well as a new instrument cluster. However, we expect most things to remain largely the same.

When it comes to the rest of the cabin, things will remain the same. This means that you can count on a couple of fairly spacious rows of seats that offer plenty of leg and headroom for adult passengers. On the other hand, the cargo space doesn’t look as spectacular, with most rivals offering more space. With this, you can count on about 25 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total cargo volume is about 53 cubic feet.

Of course, we will also see some interesting additions to the list of standard equipment, although we have to say that the current model already stands pretty well in this regard. All models come standard with tech goodies such as a 7-inch display, a 10-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, HD radio, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The list of options is even more impressive.

Motor

This is probably the only aspect that should not come with major changes. We expect the Audi Q5 to continue with familiar engines under the hood. This means that the base models will come with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that produces around 248 horsepower and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that works great. The engine delivers amazing driving dynamics, while fuel consumption is also at a decent level. You can count on around 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

There’s also a recently launched PHEV version that comes with the same turbo engine but gets help from hybrid components, so maximum power is a respectable 349 horsepower, resulting in much better acceleration and overall performance. On top of that, you can count on higher mpg ratings as well as a pretty decent 20 miles of all-electric range.

Release date and price

The Audi Q5 is coming in the fall. No major price changes are expected, so base models should cost around €45,000 (Euros). As you might assume, the main competitors will remain the same, and these would be models like BMW X3 M , Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV.
