Audi Q6 2025: Waiting for a new member of the crossover family

First spy photos of what could be the Audi Q6 are here. We are still waiting for confirmation from the German automaker, but it is only a matter of time. Until then, we can only speculate when the release date is and what the price of the new member of the crossover SUV family will be.

Audi Q6

The new Q6 is one of the last models to hit the market. Audi claimed rights for an entire Q1-Q9 segment. Recently, Q2 and Q8 joined the lineup, and now we are missing four numbers – Q1 , Q3 , Q5 , Q6 and Q9. According to what we think the Audi Q6 will look like, fans will be delighted with its coupe-SUV design. The automaker seems to be following its German rival BMW, which produces regular and coupe-like SUVs.

So far, we know that the Audi Q6 will have an all-electric version. The e-Tron model will be quite powerful, with almost 500 horsepower. Well, we still don’t hear it officially, but the new electric SUV will probably come with a Q6 badge. In addition to the more aggressive exterior design, the new Audi Q6 will get a long list of interior features and trim levels. The premium SUV will have to compete with the likes of Cadillac Lyriq , BMW X4 and Lincoln MKC .

Spy Photos and Design

The new Audi Q6 has not been spied yet. But its cousin, the A6 Allroad, is going through final testing. This vehicle will be the basis for the new crossover SUV and we will find many similarities between them. However, the A6 Allspace is heavily covered and does not reveal too much. First of all, the Q6 will stand higher and be larger. The rear of the vehicle will also get a boxier shape. Not as much as Q5, but this will allow the SUV to put more cargo on the road.

Front fascia will be classic Audi. Aggressive grille with a four-ring emblem, slim headlights and huge air vents. Well, it seems like a redesigned Q5. But that’s exactly what we expected.

We could also take notes from the premiere of the new e-Tron prototype. Although we saw futuristic models at first glance, this time Audi showed a production-ready vehicle, so don’t be surprised if the e-Tron becomes the Audi Q6. The coupe-like rear draws attention, and you’ll see more similarities up front.

Specifications

Before moving to the electric SUV, let’s analyze what kind of powertrain Audi Q6 can use. It is obvious that SUV will occupy a place between Q5 and Q7. That is, its stablemates will borrow the powertrain. Both use the same lineup of two powertrains. The smaller displacement is a 2.0-liter turbo-four unit, while the larger is 3.0-l V6, which is also turbocharged for maximum power.

Well, power and torque results are slightly different. The Q5, with a 2.0 engine, makes 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, while the Q7 can make 248 hp. With a larger displacement, a larger SUV manages 329 hp and 325 lb-ft, and a compact crossover with 354 hp and 370 pound-feet of twist. In addition, the lighter Q5 also delivers better gas mileage.

Now let’s go back to the Audi Q6. In any case, both engines will be ready for the new SUV. The outputs should be somewhere between the declared levels for the Q5 and Q7. One thing is for sure – the famous Quattro system will be the only option. There will be no 2WD on offer for the Q6. An RS version is likely, but not right from the first edition. It will be part of the first refresh of a season after the launch date.

Fully electric SUV

The e-Tron SUV is official. Audi even announced production plans for this model. It will be built in Belgium and the company will start deliveries soon. However, we don’t know which model will be used as the basis for this model. In any case, there are four free slots in the Q lineup. We are pretty sure it will be the Q6.

The plan is to build an SUV that can travel 300 miles on a single charge. This is an optimistic plan considering that even smaller cars cannot reach such a distance. But technology is evolving and the large Audi Q6 will have enough space to accommodate a huge battery. Space is not a problem, but the weight of the power generator could be.

Power could go up to 500 hp as planned. Well, there are always big differences between a concept car and a production model. If we downgrade these outputs, we can get something realistic. A 400 hp SUV with 200-250 miles of range could happen next season. 500 hp and 300 miles, well, not so.
