Audi SQ7 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The Audi SQ7 is an SUV that tries to do it all. Not only does it seat seven, but it also has a 500-horsepower V-8 engine that offers dazzling performance, and it’s luxurious enough to justify its high price. Compared to the standard Q7 , the SQ7 looks more aggressive to go along with its extra power, and it also benefits from handling upgrades.

Limousine Audi SQ7

It’s a worthy competitor to other high-performance luxury SUVs like the BMW X5 M and the Mercedes ML , although it doesn’t look quite as cool as its brother, the sharp Audi SQ8 .For a vehicle that already starts above €85,000 (Euros), we think the better-equipped Prestige trim is worth the money. It offers an S Sport package for €5900 (Euros), which includes desirable upgrades like a sport rear differential and Audi’s active roll stabilization system.

Engine, transmission and performance

The Audi SQ7 features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine with 500 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, which it shares with the mechanically similar two-row SQ8 SUV. That sounds like a lot, and it is: It’s the same engine found in the even more powerful RS Q8 , sacrificing little power and torque in this application.

Quattro all-wheel drive is standard, as is an eight-speed automatic transmission, and on our test track the SQ7 achieved a zero-to-62mph time of just 3.5 seconds. Despite its performance potential, the SQ7 easily doubles as a family SUV and offers a flawless ride. Handling is nothing short of heroic considering it’s a true heavyweight; it tackles twisty roads with ease and rarely feels jarring.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The EPA rates the SQ7 at 17 mpg combined, 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, which is about as thirsty as you’d expect from a V-8-powered SUV. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy test, the SQ7 nailed its rating, delivering 21 mpg. For more information on the SQ7’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

Interior, comfort and cargo

The SQ7 offers the same practical interior as the Q7, but with a few quirks, including sportier seats with different leather trim. A third row of seats is standard in the SQ7, as in the Q7, making it a fast seven-passenger family hauler. Cargo space behind the third row is limited, as in the Q7, but drop those seats and the second-row chairs, and the SQ7 will likely accommodate the same 25 carry-on bags we were able to fit in the regular Q7.

Infotainment and connectivity

The Q7 received a refresh with a new touchscreen infotainment system, and the SQ7 shares the same setup. Three digital screens line the dashboard, one serves as a reconfigurable instrument display, another is for navigation and entertainment, and a third provides access to the vehicle’s settings and climate control. Depending on how you feel about physical controls versus touch-sensitive ones, the SQ7’s cabin can delight or infuriate.

Safety and driver assistance functions

Audi offers basic driver assistance aids as standard on the SQ7, but more advanced technology costs extra. For more information on the SQ7’s crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Standard automatic emergency braking with forward collision warning
  • Lane departure warning and lane keeping assist as standard
  • Available adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode
