Audi SQ8 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The Audi SQ8 shares a chassis and powertrain with the Lamborghini Urus, so does that make it a bargain Lambo? Not exactly. Although it offers 500 horsepower and is dressed like a performance SUV, the SQ8’s demeanor leans more toward the standard Q8 than the rugged Urus or the mechanically similar RS Q8 model (reviewed separately).

SUV Audi SQ8

For some buyers, this middle ground is perfect, delivering sporty looks and unabashed straight lines without compromising on comfort or everyday usability. Other performance-focused SUVs, like the Porsche Cayenne and Mercedes ML , offer similar results, but the Audi’s cut-roof look gives it mega curb appeal.

What’s new ?

Audi has made more driver assistance features standard on the SQ8, including adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning. All models now come standard with carbon fiber interior trim, and a new Executive package adds heated rear seats, rear window sunshades, ventilated front seats, leather upholstery on more surfaces, HD Matrix LED headlights, and ambient interior lighting with multiple color choices. Buyers can also choose new red-painted brake calipers as a standalone option, as well as a new Carbon Look package that includes unique 22-inch wheels and black exterior accents.

All SQ8 models come with the best performance-enhancing features Audi can throw at them, so you’ll get the same driving experience no matter which model you choose. Still, we’d upgrade to the Prestige trim, which adds a host of driver-assist and luxury features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, a head-up display, fancier LED exterior lighting elements, soft-closing doors, heated rear seats and power rear sunshades.

Engine, transmission and performance

A twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 will power the SQ8, and it will provide 500 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. The model comes standard with Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. On our test track, the SQ8 raced to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, just 0.4 seconds behind the more powerful—but mechanically similar— Lamborghini Urus . The SQ8 offers agile handling and a sporty demeanor, but in Comfort mode it offers a family-friendly ride that makes it a true multipurpose vehicle.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

According to the EPA, the SQ8 is good for 15 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg combined. However, we can’t evaluate its real-world mpg until we run it on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route, which is part of our extensive testing program. For more information on the SQ8’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

Interior, comfort and cargo

Typical of Audi’s S models, the interior gets more standard equipment and finer materials than the base vehicle. These include black accents in the cab and diamond-stitched seats, as well as carbon trim and contrast stitching. With seating, the roomy back seat and spacious cargo area are useful on road trips. Unfortunately, storage space in the interior is below average.

Infotainment and connectivity

Audi equips every SQ8 with a dual touchscreen infotainment system and its branded Virtual Cockpit reconfigurable instrument display. The almost entirely digital cabin will appeal to tech-savvy buyers, but not those who value physical controls for things like climate control. A Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, are standard fare.

Safety and driver assistance functions

Audi offers a range of driver assistance features as standard on the SQ8, including both basics such as automated emergency braking and advanced adaptive cruise control features. For more information on the SQ8’s crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Standard forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
  • Standard lane departure warning with lane keeping assist
  • Standard adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode

Warranty and maintenance coverage

Audi offers the same limited warranty and powertrain warranty as BMW and Mercedes-Benz . The SQ8 also includes four years of 24-hour roadside assistance and a short complimentary scheduled maintenance period.

Price Audi SQ8

The Audi Q8 will keep the price at the current level. The SUV’s MSRP is already quite high. With destination, it will be just under €70,000. Premium Plus adds €5,000 in features, and you’ll have to spend another €5,000 if you want Prestige trim. The Audi SQ8 is the most expensive thanks to the powerful V8 engine. €90,000 is the base price, the Prestige package costs €5,000, and with some optional upgrades, the total will exceed €100,000.
