Exclusive Bentley Mulliner
Bentley’s Mulliner coachbuilding division has put more intricate detailing into this car than the Continental GT convertible and the Continental GT , which the division raised last year.
review
Designed by Mulliner, Bentley’s Personal Commissioning Division, the Flying Spur Mulliner is a true celebration of modern automotive craftsmanship – something that will catch your eye the moment you see its glossy Mulliner-badged exterior. Its exclusive 22-inch wheel is painted and polished grey – and features self-levelling ‘B’ centre hubcaps. A sparkling ‘double diamond’ design has been applied to the grille and fender vents, as well as the fender vents on either side. Satin silver painted door mirror caps catch the eye, while a power deployable illuminated ‘Flying B’ bonnet mascot adds the finishing touch.
Approach the car and your path is lit thanks to the welcome lighting. Step inside and you’ll notice the word Mulliner again, illuminated in the exterior sill plates. Once inside, you can enjoy a world of comfort and craftsmanship. The addition of Bentley’s Mood Lighting Specification means the interior exudes the ambience of your choosing. In the veneered instrument panel, you’ll see chrome porthole air intakes and overlays, alongside the Bentley Rotating Display and a Breitling for Mulliner dashboard clock (even the dials in the digital instrument display match its design).
At your feet you’ll find sports foot pedals and deep-pile Mulliner mats for extra comfort, while above you a panoramic roof is set into the smooth leather headliner. One of the most striking features of the interior is the leather trim in the doors, which has been seamlessly formed into a stunning, three-dimensional diamond pattern that simply begs to be touched, while the seats feature accent colour piping and exclusive Mulliner embroidery.
In the rear, two heated and cooled seats with massage functions are arranged on either side of a diamond-milled, full-length center console. Electrically extendable picnic tables with chrome inserts are attached to the backrests of the front seats.
Performance
The Flying Spur Mulliner can be commissioned with one of three incredible powertrains – an incredibly smooth 6.0-litre W12 engine, a thrilling 4.0-litre V8 engine or, for those seeking a more advanced choice, a 2.9-litre V6 hybrid with a powerful 100kW electric vehicle motor.
Whichever you choose, you can expect the combination of refinement and effortless performance that only Bentley can deliver. Each car features unrivalled soundproofing to ensure a quiet experience for all inside – unless the driver actively selects Sport mode and hits the throttle. Only then does the true extent of Flying Spur performance reveal itself, as a rich roar emerges from the gleaming tailpipes at the rear – and the open road beckons.
Beneath the exquisite surface of the W12 configuration, a range of innovative chassis systems work together to make driving even more enjoyable – and give the car a level of agility that belies its size. Bentley Dynamic Ride* is an active anti-roll system that keeps the car level when cornering without compromising ride comfort. It not only provides a better driving experience for all occupants, but also sports car-like performance on twisty roads. Exhilaration is, after all, a different kind of luxury .
The car also benefits from a state-of-the-art four-wheel steering system. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, reducing the turning circle for easier control in tight streets. On the open road, however, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels, allowing you to slide confidently between lanes.
technology
Like every Flying Spur, the Flying Spur Mulliner comes with a wide range of driver assistance systems as part of Bentley’s City specification, from hands-free boot opening to a top-view camera. The optional Touring specification adds features to make driving on the open road easier, from a night vision camera and head-up display to adaptive cruise control.
The feeling of being driven in the Flying Spur Mulliner is unlike any other car. A smooth, almost silent ride complements a generous feeling of space, while the atmosphere in the car is always fresh thanks to a built-in air ionizer. The Wi-Fi
The touchscreen remote offers the ability to check driving information, adjust the seats and control the infotainment system – all from the back seat. And when it comes to music, you have access to some of the best car audio systems available anywhere, with three options ranging from Bentley’s standard system to audiophile systems from Bang & Olufsen and Naim.
The new Bentley Rear Entertainment System with two high-resolution 10.1-inch screens offers even greater entertainment and immersion for rear passengers. You can now access and enjoy content from a variety of your subscriptions, streamed directly from your personal mobile device.
