BMW 3er 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The existence of spy photos is always a good way to get news, and here we have some nice shots of the BMW 3 Series. The new version will bring us some small changes in the exterior, minor details in the interior. The test mule will be experimented in Europe and will be released in .
BMW 3 Series
We also have some renderings based on spy photos that surfaced earlier this year. The vehicle was first spotted during cold weather testing, while the latest spy photos place the prototype in the woods. This just goes to show that BMW’s designers are going all out and preparing the next-generation 3 Series vehicles to better compete in the luxury model segment.
The codename for the production version is BMW G20 and it brings some familiar lines already seen on the latest 5 and 7 Series models. The only thing that will set this model apart from the rest is its youth, which will surely bring a much sportier feel to the table. There are many details that are still covered by camouflage and much of it is left to our imagination. Fortunately, our reviewer’s keen eye noticed most of the parts that have been redone.
There is still a long way to go before we can really see the new BMW 3 Series in full, but according to the announcements, we can probably expect a lot of innovations to be made to this car. In general, they aim to make a car that has a lower weight but larger dimensions at the same time. This also means more power and better fuel economy. The new design is also expected and an M-style performance will make a big difference to the car. With the newly introduced autonomous driving technology, we are also happy to see it coming to BMW’s latest 3 Series models.
Now that we’ve got all the initial stuff out of the way, it’s time to talk about some parts in more detail. With the release date coming up quickly, let’s see what they have in store for us with the latest BMW 3 Series.
Release date and price
It’s hard to say anything about the BMW 3 Series release date and price without entering the zone of fiction. There were no official details, but based on the previous versions, one could expect an average price of $34,000 and the release date somewhere in early . In general, the price will be higher due to the added technology and updated features. We just hope it doesn’t go too far this time, but it seems that they might try to make it competitive with the rival cars and give us a cheaper deal that way. It would be good for the fans to get a more down-to-earth car. But this is a BMW, so don’t expect too much. The mid-range price will probably be around €45,000 (Euro), while the highest-rated models will probably sell for up to €66,000 (Euro).
We will get to know all the trims and possible models as time goes on, but what we noticed here is that BMW wants to keep all this a secret. Every part of the vehicle was covered and they even tried to mask the headlights to make them look like the Jaguar model.
As for the release date, the BMW 3 Series will soon come out of the design table, but there are no exact details about when the car might hit the streets. There is some information that hopefully announced the car as early as mid-2017. But as we see now, that is pushed back for at least the end of the year, but it will be more likely for early . All in all, we expect the facelifted version to appear in all countries of its fame first in Germany and will probably go to America soon after. So the US audience will continue to be excited about the car and its expectations.
Exterior design
The BMW 3 Series exterior is more aerodynamic than ever. The latest platform includes super-lightweight materials like aluminum, magnesium, and in some cases even carbon fiber. We don’t expect carbon fiber to be used anywhere in the BMW 3 Series, but we’re keeping our hopes up. The architecture itself is designed to be compatible with the plug-in hybrids or even fully electric.
All the styling details you would expect from the BMW 3 Series are present, such as the short overhangs of the kidney grille and of course the Hofmeister kink (or Hocmeister kink). Slight forward bend at the C-pillars or D-pillars on touring cars or SUVs.
Among all the standard details, we can’t miss the front part, which seems to be a bit lower and wider than before, once again proof that BMW is fully sporty in this case.
Interior changes
Although it was difficult to see anything inside the BMW 3 Series’ interior, we were able to catch a glimpse of a digital instrument cluster. That means we can expect a state-of-the-art interior (like Audi’s virtual cockpit) and an advanced infotainment system with voice control. Since we all know that BMW tends to compete in the EV and semi-autonomous market, we can assume that we could see some fragments of this technology. We’re not just thinking of 3 Series for the , but all models.
Don’t expect them to port the entire 7 Series to the 3 Series. There’s no gesture control or remote parking assist. Maybe you can pay extra for that kind of nerdiness.
The other goods like leather seats, power seats, leather upholstery and additional infotainment for the rear seats will be options. We have the option to add these options as per your convenience or based on the money you want to spend. Luxury has never been a problem for German vehicles so we don’t expect it to be here either.
BMW 3 Series Engine
This next-generation BMW 3 Series engine from will thankfully receive a refresh. For a production car, we expect 2.0 and 3.0 liter petrol and diesel. We also expect some additional options for a less powerful and more environmentally friendly option for the European markets. Something like 1.5 liter three-cylinder would do a trick. The lineup will even include a hybrid version later on and of course the full EV variant. It would be a waste of all these researchers if they didn’t even try the full electric vehicles.
These units will be much more powerful than previous models, and they will be more fuel efficient and return more mpg.
They will have to get this right, at least for the sake of all the money. In the end, the BMW 3 Series is the most successful model of all.
One of the 3 Series’ strengths has always been variety and it will also mean that this latest model will bring a diverse offering of engines to the table as well. The smallest and least powerful engine is the 1.5-liter three-cylinder, which will likely and amazingly be offered on the U.S. versions. Its output is measured at 135 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. We also expect the aforementioned 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 3.0-liter six-cylinder crossovers to come to America with plenty of updates. The current 320i has 180 horsepower, a figure that will surely rise to 200 horsepower, while the 340i version will jump from 320 horsepower to probably 350 horsepower. We’re excited about this kind of refresh and would love to have it.
Hybrid engine options will be more varied and more details will be announced on these in the coming months. We don’t expect all options to be available right away, though. However, the M-badged versions may see more powertrain changes than any other option for the 3 Series. We hope the car will have to jump from the current 425 hp to 500 hp. It will certainly make things a lot more interesting.
As always, the BMW 3 Series will come standard with a RWD option and will use BMW’s xDrive AWD system on some of the specified trims. But transmission choices will likely be limited to an eight-speed automatic and a three-pedal manual.
0-62 mph per hour and maximum speed
The updates expected to be released for the BMW 3 Series engines will likely do wonders for performance. If they update the engines in the expected matter, we will likely see many more improvements to their specifications. All in all, the current acceleration stats could be trumped, while the top speed will likely remain the same for now. For reference, the current time taken to reach 0-62 mph is 5.4 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 155 mph for all models.
Fuel consumption
The simple fact that the latest BMW 3 Series will come with updated and improved fuel economy tells us that they plan to improve fuel economy. That the car uses a lot of new materials that are much lighter than the current ones speaks for itself. The curb weight of the car is now around 3569 pounds, and those numbers will go down to give better ratings to the fuel department. The current models consume 23 mpg in the city and 34 on the highway with a combined rating of 25 mpg. The stats aren’t that bad now, but we’d like to see them improve too.
Dimensions
With the lightweight setup, the BMW 3 Series is also expected to grow. This may be counterintuitive, but the lightweight materials and the use of aluminum and carbon fiber help reduce weight immensely, so the vehicle will live up to its expectations even with larger dimensions. They will do this to create more space inside and provide more comfort to passengers. Currently, there are no exact statistics on how much they are expected to expand, but the current model is still 182.8 inches long, has a 110.6-inch wheelbase, 71.3 inches wide, and 56.3 inches tall. These numbers will surely improve in the future.
Security
Unfortunately, BMW has not yet released any information about the safety of the BMW 3 Series. But knowing BMW, it will surely be a good and safe offering for all passengers inside. This will probably be something we can be proud of and enjoy. Another thing is that new technologies will be applied here, as the updates are already given for the interior of the car. Expect some new standard and advanced safety options here.
Rivals
One of the reasons BMW has decided to completely redesign the BMW 3 Series is because of the competition. You don’t hear this that often, but the truth is that BMW is starting to lose its place in the segment compared to the offerings of its closest rivals. The best way to do this was to start with a whole new generation of 3 Series cars, and by the looks of things, we could see it working out. The cars BMW is now eyeing are the Jaguar XE and Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan versions , which will undoubtedly be one of the bigger obstacles for BMW.
