BMW 5er 2025: Price, exterior, picture, specifications.
The BMW 5 Series has been gearing up for a release for quite some time. The first time the test mule for this vehicle was spotted was quite early in its development. The model was first seen in 2014 and again later that year. The images showed a BMW car in a heavy camouflage color with a future 5 Series design.
BMW 5 Series
We had to wait quite a long time before the car was officially unveiled for the first time and it came in late 2016. The model was showcased and the announcement was made for a release in the model year. The model has an evolutionary style and comes with some of the most advanced features one would want in a car.
The best thing about all future BMW releases, not just this one, is that they will be made with brand new weight reduction technology. The future model will weigh 137 pounds less than the previous car. It uses a combination of magnesium, aluminum and high-strength steel to make the 7 Series’ CFRP technology work.
The model will solve some performance issues and also offer better fuel economy with the new lighter platform. Also, the release date is expected to be before , with a range of engines after the release, especially some interesting options for the US market.
When is the release date for the BMW 5 Series?
The announcement for the BMW 5 Series and its release date came shortly after its first presentation. The reveal showed us not only the car but also the release date. Fans of the brand will be able to get their own model by the end of 2019.
What is the BMW 5 Series price range ?
What they didn’t reveal at the official reveal of the BMW 5 Series was the price. That fact will be released mid-year, but like any BMW model, it’s not cheap. You can expect the base MSRP to be around $50,000 as a starting price.
What are the BMW 5 Series Exterior Changes ?
The design of the BMW 5 Series is pretty straightforward. We could see right away when the spy photos were released that this design would be an evolutionary one rather than a revolutionary one. It borrows heavily from the current 7 Series model and makes some interesting changes. The front end features a wider kidney grille surrounded by longer headlights. It now even comes with LED adaptive units.
The side view of the car offers a much more pronounced beltline, which gives the car a touch of sportiness. There is also a hockey stick-shaped character line just above the side skirts of the car. The rear has some new and redesigned taillights that are positioned much lower into the sides of the car. The rear section also adds new symmetrically placed exhaust tailpipes that are also placed on the sides.
The model is also offered with some specific design pieces available through the packages offered. New this year are the Design Package and the M Sport Package. Two non-metallic and 11 metallic shades are available, as well as four different alloy designs in 18, 19 and 20-inch sizes. You can also read our article on the changes to the 2019 BMW 5 Series .
What is the BMW 5 Series interior redesign?
The interior of the BMW 5 Series will be heavily based on the 7 Series. This is evident from the styling and design of the center stack. There is a completely identical infotainment screen and similar wood trim. There are some differences in the center stack, however, as the A/C vents are separate from the HVAC controls and integrated in the 7 Series.
To make your comfort easier, the driver uses the 16-way power adjustable sports seats. Optional are the 20-way adjustable multi-contour seats that you can use for both driver and passenger. The driver and passenger have just enough space in the front, while the rear area has been expanded by 1.2 inches for legroom and knee room. There is additional storage space on the sides of the car.
Powertrain Capability and Specifications
The U.S. version of the BMW 5 Series will be available with two powertrain options. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder, both turbocharged, will be available. A manual transmission choice is not yet available, but you can expect it to be added to the V-8 variant in the future. Output is expected to be 248 hp, 258 lb-ft and 335 hp, 332 lb-ft for the two engines.
0-62 mph per hour acceleration capability
Different powertrains and model offerings of the BMW 5 Series offer different performance. The base 530i accelerates to 60 mph in 6 seconds with the 4-cylinder engine, while the same engine in the xDrive does the same in 5.8 seconds. The 540i variant achieves it in 4.9 seconds, while the RWD xDrive option is the quickest, doing 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Top speed for both versions of the engine is 130 mph standard or 155 mph optional.
Fuel consumption figures and specifications
The official fuel prices for the BMW 5 Series have not been released yet, but will be better compared to the previous ones. The lightweight structure of the latest model offers much better specifications compared to the current EPA rating of 23 mpg city, 34 highway, 27 combined that the car has. The prices will come when the car is released or shortly before.
Dimensions Changes
The dimensions for the BMW 5 Series have not been officially released yet. But based on the interior structure of the car and the extra space inside, we will probably get an increase in size. They did not specify how much longer or wider the car is, but it is not by a huge margin. Looking at the car, we do not see any specific changes and the car looks more or less the same size as it was. But that is the beauty of the engineering BMW is incorporating. The official specifications will be available once the price is announced.
Security settings
There are a number of technologies that update the safety systems of the BMW 5 Series. The standard set includes airbags for driver and front passenger, side airbags for driver and front passenger, curtain airbags for front and rear seats, three-point inertia belts on all seats with belt lock tensioner and belt force limiter on the front seats, crash sensors and tire defect indicator. As part of the Driver Assistance Plus II package, there are some advanced offerings such as Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Lane Keeping Assistant with Side Collision Avoidance, Traffic Jam Assistant and Active Lane Change. In addition to this, there are some advanced options that are offered on higher trims and on certain packages of the car.
What are the competing models?
The competition is pretty much the same old setup that the BMW 5 Series will face now. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Audi A6 are your offered models and your potential alternative when it comes to the segment. There may be small differences between these cars and it divides the car by a small margin.
