BMW ALPINA XB7 2025: Price, exterior, interior, picture.

If your cozy family crossover reaches its first hundred in 4.2 seconds, this is how you can describe the new BMW ALPINA XB7 , the high-performance version of the luxury crossover X7. Unlike the X5 and X6, BMW M does not offer a sporty M variant based on the X7 . Instead, the XB7 will be introduced in May . The new model began to be delivered to customers in December , and now we can arrange a full test drive of the novelty.

BMW X5

This is particularly interesting because the XB7 is at the top of the line. The BMW X7 is available in three trim levels: xDrive40i, M50i and Alpina XB7. The XB7 we tested is the most powerful and dynamic version. It was developed by BMW with the support of the Bavarian automotive group Alpina.

A new masterpiece from Alpina

Looking at the BMW Alpina XB7 live, it immediately becomes clear why the car is not suitable for the role of a representative of BMW M. At over 200 inches long and weighing just under three tons, it is too long and too heavy to accommodate the brand logo of the BMW M sports division.Add to this Alpina, a company that knows how to produce superior versions of BMW production models, including those that are overlooked by BMW’s internal sports experts.

Alpina recently added the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe to its American lineup (B6) after a long hiatus, and now the beefy X7 comes into the portfolio with a massive evolution and a new name: the Alpina XB7. The Bavarians take the engine from the M50i version and increase its power to 612 hp. Now it’s a 4.4-liter biturbo V8 with larger turbos, an improved exhaust system and an improved cooling system. Add to that Alpina’s unique powertrain, sports suspension, Alpina-tuned all-wheel drive, sports differential and unique quad exhaust – all with BMW factory warranty. And of course, you can buy the BMW Alpina XB7 in the AutoMaximum dealer network!

BMW Alpina XB7 in numbers

Despite its impressive size and weight, the XB7 has performance on par with a real BMW M: 612 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, all-wheel drive with an active limited-slip differential on the rear axle and the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. It flies four hundred meters in just 12.4 seconds. The braking and traction performance is also impressive thanks to excellent pizza-sized brake discs and 23-inch Pirelli P Zero tires.

Test drive BMW Alpina XB7: first impressions

Unlike many M-bodied cars, the XB7 doesn’t feel like a stern and aggressive sports car that’s hardly suitable for the road. No, this is a luxurious three-row crossover with exemplary comfort even at the highest speeds. Its ride is confident, with excellent handling, but comfortable. The cabin is remarkably quiet. And everywhere you look, there’s wood trim, leather and real metal.

This balance of ride and handling is a classic Alpina feature, which has long focused on both more BMW performance and a more exclusive and luxurious experience.

Design

In terms of design, the XB7 looks almost like any other X7. Except for the thin-spoke wheels, four round exhaust openings and a subtle spoiler with ALPINA lettering. Even the chrome strips of the regular X7 are present. The vehicle was tested with BMW Individual Ametrine Metallic Purple, which has been one of the top 10 vehicle colors in recent years.

Interior

Inside, the XB7 looks even more interesting than the regular X7, but without excessive pathos. The Alpina emblem replaces the BMW signature circle on the steering wheel, a small plaque on the center console indicates its origins and offers Alpina-specific trim elements. The digital instrument cluster is also styled with special Alpina graphics and colors. As is usual with Alpina products, the steering wheel has blue-green decorative stitching as well as gearshift buttons on the back of the rim. Each side controls a gearshift direction: press the right button to shift up or the left button to shift down.

BMW Alpina XB7 ride: between comfort and sport

During a test drive, the XB7 impresses with the intense sound of its huge exhaust pipes. However, this does not affect comfort: in the driver’s seat, the engine noise sounds so quiet and muffled that it seems to be coming from another car. Step on the accelerator and the sounds of the V8 are suddenly much closer, much louder and more interesting. You accelerate and the landscape just becomes a blur. At the same time, the car behaves elegantly. When accelerating, there is only a slight jolt, but no explosion. Three-digit speeds are reached and maintained effortlessly.

Alpina’s signature 20-spoke wheel design is combined with massive 23-inch wheels with fat tires of different widths: 285/35 ZR23 at the front and 325/30 ZR23 at the rear. They provide reliable grip when cornering. You can also opt for a 21-inch kit.

The steering is electrically assisted. The brake pedal is soft and offers a direct and powerful response, but a firmer ride gives a more confident feeling. Even the chassis, which is adjustable from Comfort to Sport to Sport Plus, retains a certain flexibility even in the toughest modes. In Comfort mode, the BMW Alpina XB7 demonstrates exemplary smoothness. In this sense, it is not as aggressive as the BMW X5 M or the Porsche Cayenne Coupé .

The XB7 has tons of drive mode settings that let you customize the steering, transmission, throttle response, suspension and exhaust to your liking, but even if you skip everything, the sporty crossover will still perform at its best.

During the test drive, the car stayed in Comfort mode most of the time. Turn the gear lever to the left from “D” to “S” and the driving experience is simply unbeatable. The eight-speed automatic transmission is quicker and delivers crisp and perfectly synchronized gear changes. Hold lower gears to prevent the engine from unnecessarily increasing the revs.
