Vision – Circular EV

This is what BMW’s car could look like in 2040. The concept is called i Vision Circular and is a fully electric luxury car that is built entirely from recycled materials and can itself be fully recycled. We took photos for you at the IAA and received some information. For example, it was important to the makers that no CO2 is emitted during the entire life cycle of the circular. Neither in production, nor in the parts, nor when driving – great thing.

Exterior design

The BMW i Vision Circular doesn’t look like a current BMW , but more like what you’d expect from a car designed like 2040…
The kidney grilles now extend across the entire front of the car, the LED headlights are integrated into the corners. Most of the car is devoid of aggressive creases and edges, with the exception of the hood, which has a wavy section that matches the shape of the front grille.

The side is dominated by large windows, contrasting side skirts and an obligatory set of large alloy wheels. These are designed to reduce drag.
At the rear are the brake lights, which consist of a thick LED strip. The entire car has a two-tone paint job that changes from rose gold at the front to blue at the rear.

Interior and infotainment

What’s special about the interior of the BMW i Vision Circular 2040 is that it is completely recycled.
See the steering wheel? It was 3D printed from wood and should be warm to the touch. The upholstery is made from recycled plastic and there’s even a lamp made from the gearstick of a BMW iX .

In addition, BMW commissioned world-famous composer Hans Zimmer to develop ambient sounds that can be played through the vehicle’s stereo system.

BMW i Vision Newsletter: Production

The BMW i Vision Circular will not enter production – at least not any time soon – but will no doubt inspire future road cars.
The fully recycled interior concept seems a likely addition to upcoming BMW vehicles, even if you won’t find a light-based gearshift in your next 3 Series.
