BMW iNext 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

BMW is working on the self-driving crossover SUV. It sounds far-fetched, but the company has announced Level 5 of autonomous driving. Currently, the most advanced Tesla models can offer Level 3. To get to the higher levels, the BMW iNext will have to develop a fully autonomous system that can take you from place A to place B without any intervention or attention. So good luck BMW with that.

SUV iNext

The iNext concept was unveiled in 2018 and the German automaker is doing everything to bring it into production as soon as possible. We believe that MY is not impossible. From what we know so far, BMW is aiming for at least Level 4 of autonomous driving. Well, the concept is too futuristic, with some well-known design solutions from the company. The kidney grille is of course a highlight. The BMW iNext will have a range of 370 miles, but exact details about the electric battery are not yet known.

iNext Debuted, production due by

The new BMW iNext will not come out anytime soon. The concept had the preview, but the company needs more time to turn ideas into reality. And with such an SUV on the list, it is more than easy. Well, the concept is too futuristic, with suicide doors and especially Level 5 of autonomous drive. According to leaked plans, BMW will unveil the production model in . However, the bosses are not yet sure if they will deliver it in the same year, or the all-electric iNext SUV will debut as a MY.

BMW iNext Level 4 of self-driving

BMW says “at least.” Well, Level 5 is still a dream. Imagine just sitting in the car and it takes you wherever you want. This system is a point where you can sleep while driving and wake up when the car takes you there. Well, current self-driving systems can reach Level 4. The most advanced autonomous drive comes from Tesla models. The US carmaker is still at Level 3. The new BMW iNext will bring it to market. Engineers have two years to develop a Level 4.

The good thing is that there is ambition. On the other hand, BMW has trusted the company and we have to take their words seriously. The bosses have been very cautious about making spectacular announcements, so they only promise Level 4. Everything except extras.

Explanation of autonomous drive levels

We can first distinguish between self-driving and autonomous driving. In theory, all cars that can perform some functions instead of a driver are self-driving models. On the other hand, when the vehicle reaches a certain level of self-driving where no driver input is required, it becomes an autonomous system. These are Level 4 and Level 5.

But let’s start from the beginning. The entry level is Level 0 – no operations at all, the driver does everything. Level 1 includes some warning and alert systems that help the driver learn more about their surroundings. Lane departure and blind spot monitoring are two that we can find in most cases. As the vehicle moves up, it starts to do some things on its own. Automatic braking, cruise control and automatic parking are features that indicate Level 2.

Level 3 is the most advanced system today. The system drives a car. However, a driver must be there to step in and help if the self-driving system fails to recognize the situation. Tesla, Mercedes, and Cadillac already offer vehicles with this level. Level 4 is in development. After Mercedes, Volvo, Google, Uber, and Samsung, BMW is the latest company to enter this market. We’ll see if the BMW iNext brings this system. Level 5 is worth waiting for. Cars with this setup can do anything.

BMW iNext range and technical data

The new BMW iNext will have a range of 370 miles. However, this will be the most powerful configuration available for the new SUV. We believe there is no model that offers less than 250 miles. Depending on the size of the battery, buyers will find higher or lower prices. Anyway, it is still early to talk about MSRP when we have no idea about specifications.

Competitors

Rumors about the BMW iNext make it the most advanced all-electric SUV. However, the competition is not letting it go. We have already mentioned the most famous companies in this segment. These are definitely Tesla and Mercedes . Experts will soon see how Cadillac ‘s XT6 autonomous drive works. Ford will also launch its first electric vehicles and advanced self-driving features. All in all, the future is in electric vehicles and autonomous driving. It is only a matter of time when Level 4 and Level 5 become safe enough to do all the things instead of us.
