BMW M2 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The latest refresh for the BMW M2 brand brings back some necessary features that the car was missing. The new model tries to keep things as simple as possible to achieve what it needs.
BMW M2
The price is balanced despite some additions and upgrades. What they are aiming for, however, is to restore the interior comfort, which was subpar for a BMW branded car, unlike other products with M badge.
What they have actually done with the BMW M2 is to go back to basics. Perhaps the previous models went too far in terms of driver characteristics. The power rates and acceleration were something that manufacturers focused on when making other M cars. But they are trying to bring back the necessary comfort for this new type of model.
The new BMW M2 offers an intermediate offering. There are still some bugs that could be fixed. The style is nothing to fall in love with and the fuel economy is also pretty bad. However, the performance and basic equipment of this model are enough to get a top rating.
With the release date of this car coming soon, it was time to analyze the currently released images and merge them with newly offered information in a comprehensive review.
When will the release date for the BMW M2 be?
The release date for the BMW M2 will be officially announced soon, but it is already known that the model is scheduled to appear at the end of the year. The exact date will be announced in due course and we will report it as soon as possible.
What’s the price?
The BMW M2 tries very hard to keep its price in check. Even with the equipment it offers and the setup it has, the car manages to command a pretty decent price considering what it offers. The model is offered for around 53,000 as a base price.
Exterior styling
The design of the exterior for the BMW M2 is not surprising. It immediately tells us what kind of car it is. The front end still has a familiar double-kidney grille placed above the large air intakes surrounded by massive air ducts. The fenders are extremely flared, which is necessary to handle the M-axles and the wide tires that the car uses. The general styling is one of a blunt coupe car, but a car that certainly means business.
Interior
In fact, the BMW M2 doesn’t upgrade the interior too much, at least in terms of luxury. The interior isn’t what you’d expect from a BMW brand model, but it’s a necessary feat to keep the price in check. Expect a strong interior without too much design and no lack of quality materials.
However, it is joined by specific M finishes and M badges that make it distinguishable. One of the biggest assets for the interior is the seats. They are really great and comfortable and despite the fact that they don’t contain any luxury materials, they are pretty good for your back and provide support in all circumstances.
Drivetrain and technical data
The new BMW M2 will share engines with the base line of BMW vehicles. It is also the same engine that is also used in the M3 and M4 models. The car is motivated by a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with direct injection and win-scroll turbo. The power output equates to 365 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 343 pound-feet of torque between 1,400 and 5,560 rpm. The entire powertrain also benefits from the used 7-speed M-DCT dual-clutch transmission, which improves performance, as well as a 6-speed manual transmission.
0-62 mph per hour performance
Thanks to the powerful engine that the BMW M2 is equipped with, the acceleration rates are also pretty good. The model is capable of reaching 0-62 mph per hour in just 4.2 seconds with the DCT transmission or 4.4 seconds with the 6-speed manual transmission. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
Fuel efficiency
The BMW M2 is not a car with great fuel ratings. In fact, they even lack luster for the segment they occupy, so perhaps other competing models can offer a better and more fuel-efficient offering. EPA stats come in at 20 mpg city, 27 highway, 23 combined with the DCT, or 18/26/21 mpg when using a manual transmission.
Dimensions for the car
As for the size of the BMW M2, the model maintains its usual dimensions. In fact, we get the same kind of offer that we received with the last model. They felt that the changes in dimensions were not necessary because the update was the only thing they had planned for this model year. The car measures a full length of 176.2 inches, wheelbase 106.0 inches, height 55.5 inches and width 73.0 inches. Also, the interior volume is quite normal and the passengers can enjoy 89 cu ft of space. The cargo area fits 14 cu ft.
Vehicle safety
The model will not lack the necessary safety applications and items, so the BMW M2 is still a safe car and offers us a pretty good deal in terms of passenger safety. The model comes standard with forward collision warning, pedestrian warning with city braking and lane departure warning, as well as adaptive cruise control. Optional equipment is a bit limited and we don’t get the advanced specifications we expected. The Executive package offers the only advanced improvements in terms of safety. These include a rearview camera, park distance control, automatic high beams and active driving assistant.
Competing models
The BMW M2 model in front of us offers us great performance, but not much can be said about its comfort. It is a model that certainly finds its target audience and has the potential to become even bigger. Perhaps this model is not the groundbreaking one that people assumed and the competition does not help either. Among the models classified in the same class as the M2 are the Audi S3 and Audi A3 models , the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and Acura ILX models .
