BMW Vision M Next 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

Imagine: a BMW Vision M Next and i8, merged into one wild machine. In other words: the environmentally and climate-friendly aspect and the exotic look of the i8, combined with the outstanding performance of the latest M flagship. Sounds good, doesn’t it? We have to disappoint you: there is no such car. Or well, as of today in concept form – that’s at least something. Meet the BMW Vision M Next .

BMW Vision M Next

The M Next is an angular, wedge-shaped mid-engine sports car, but with a sly nod to some designs from the past. Like the M1 or the Turbo concept car from 1972. And also the i8. Behind the seats you’ll find a highly turbocharged four-cylinder engine, supported by two electric motors. The total output? BMW says 600 hp.

The top speed is a whopping 300 km/h. The 0-to-100 time is also nicely rounded, but even more impressive: 3 seconds. Although we assume that these numbers are theoretical and not necessarily determined on a circuit. If you plug the BMW Vision M Next in for a while, you can drive up to 100 kilometers on electricity. And unlike the i8, it has solid electrics both front and rear, giving it electric all-wheel drive.

Interior

Walk towards it and the gullwing door opens automatically for you – without a helmet, of course – using facial recognition. The simple interior looks as if it were made from a single piece and the steering wheel has a butterfly shape, like that of a drag racer. Above it you will find a curved glass display with measuring instruments, infotainment… and a heart rate monitor.

Put it in Boost+ mode and all that distraction disappears and your entire windshield becomes an augmented reality device. We’ve seen this before from previous BMW Vision concept cars , but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Like a built-in racing instructor, braking points and racing lines are “projected” onto the road for you.

The two seats are part of the cockpit and contain memory foam, so there’s no need for heavy adjustment mechanisms. And if you generate some g-forces in a corner, you don’t have to worry about your coffee spilling all over you. That’s because the cup holders are gyroscopic, so they tilt with you. Oh yes. Gyroscopic cup holders.

THE DESIGN

On the outside, we see slim headlights, a laser-cut 3D grille and various accents in the color Thrilling Orange – that’s not saying too much. It contrasts nicely with the matte gray paint and the recycled carbon fiber on the underside of the body. The line of the large air intake behind the door (not the window itself) suggests a Hofmeister kink to keep true purists happy.

The name Vision suggests that this is a rather far-fetched vision of the future, rather than a car that will appear in showrooms in a few years. A pity, we say. It is also noticeable that the letter “i” of BMW’s electric sub-brand is not found in the model name.

So it’s not an i8 M . It doesn’t share any major parts with the i8. In fact, the i8 was designed with its current powertrain in mind, so if you put 600 horsepower on it, it would probably bend in half like a candy bar in the sun.
