The upcoming BMW X7 pickup truck is happening. Unlike Mercedes, which took a risk with the Nissan Navara-based X-Class, BMW is taking a different approach. The demand for X-Class is weak, and BMW will try to do the opposite. It is a high-end pickup truck based on the X7 SUV . Some cues are almost the same, but in general, the pickup variant will differ from the SUV in some aspects.

Like any other SUV-based pickup, this one too offers a high level of comfort and a tech-rich cabin. Whatever, it’s the BMW we’re talking about. Performance is a bit of a mystery, but some rumors are already there. This model will go on sale in the first half of .
Design
As we said, the new BMW X7 pickup truck is based on the X7 SUV. Two models share the same architecture and many styling elements. However, the pickup is 3.9 inches longer and up to 440 pounds lighter. BMW decided to expand the use of carbon fiber and aluminum materials. As far as we know, the bed can accommodate items that are 55.1 inches long. Fold the tailgate, and this pickup truck can store 78.7 inches long items.
The German manufacturer will also offer adjustable air suspension with two selectable levels. Thanks to this, you can load or unload cargo much easier. Lastly, the iconic Tanzania Blue Metallic exterior color will be offered. We expect BMW to release more details closer to the release date.
Same comfort as the X7 SUV
It’s another no-brainer for the BMW X7 pickup. The cabin will use the same materials and cues as the X7 SUV. We can’t say what exactly it will look like, but the interior will offer no surprises. It can accommodate five passengers and expect the same level of comfort as the X7 SUV. We believe the SUV will offer more standard features.
On the other hand, the BMW pickup should arrive with more driver assistance aids and a generally higher safety rating. We are convinced that BMW will not offer fully digital displays. After all, this is a pickup, so analog functions are more likely.
Motor
Rumors about the all-electric powertrain are false for now. There will be no EV version for the next two or three years. Even the hybrid variant is less likely in the first year of production. Instead, the BMW X7 pickup will offer conventional gasoline engines. Our first thought is borrowing engines from the BMW X7 SUV.
At least one engine will be carried over, but nobody knows which engine will be optional. There are a few candidates. A 3.0-liter six-cylinder is certain. For the optional engine, a 4.4-liter V8 is the best fit BMW can offer right now. Both engines will arrive with 8-speed automatic transmissions. However, we cannot predict how much power BMW pickup can produce.
Price and release date
The upcoming BMW X7 Pickup will go on sale in the first quarter of . The price is not yet available. However, a premium pickup will certainly start at €50,000 (Euro). Equipment variants are not yet available along with the high-performance variants or special editions.
