Cadillac XT5 2025: New features and updated design
The newly announced Cadillac XT5 is supposed to be the replacement car for the SRX, the midsize crossover Cadillac car that they are paused. Cadillac has been on the mend for quite some time and sales are staggering. To salvage what could be salvaged, Cadillac introduced its V-lineup to attract a younger audience.
However, the style they introduced was outdated so it didn’t really work. However, they hope that with the introduction of cars like CTS , ATS and CT6 , they can grab people’s attention. The new Cadillac XT5 is also part of this reviving lineup.
With the new crew on board, they promised to give the SRX the overhaul it deserves. It only starts with the name change, but there is much more to come as they give us a new design for a completely new look and also a completely new engine added. We will see if this is enough to bring the car back to the top of the luxury segment.
The images that arrived showing how good the new XT5 looks were enough to get us interested. We know we’re not the only ones who want to see more of this car, so we’re gearing up for the upcoming release date with our review.
When is the Cadillac XT5 release date?
The latest and updated Cadillac XT5 will be launched quite early. In fact, the release date has already been set and we will have this car on sale since April this year. This is a good move by the manufacturers in Cadillac as they bring the model to us as early as possible to enjoy.
What is the potential price?
The price is no longer a mystery as the prices for the Cadillac XT5 have already been released. The new models will be brought to us in four trim levels, with the base version costing €38,995 (Euro) as a base MSRP, while the top-of-the-range XT5 Platinum is valued at €62,500 (Euro).
Exterior details
Compared to the SRX, the new Cadillac XT5 looks much more sophisticated than before. This is all due to the new design language that Cadillac is using for the latest fleet of cars that are expected to come out. Most of the changes have been made to the front end of the car, with vertically integrated LED headlights moved down near the separate set of LEDs on the air intakes. It really makes the front part of the car more aggressive than before.
The rear end of the XT5 looks similar to the new CTS, mainly due to the new use of verbiage. The rear looks a lot busier compared to before thanks to the horizontal lines from taillight to taillight, and the reserve lights are also placed differently. It’s also in a more visible location on top of the bumper, making it much easier to spot.
Thanks to the new design crew, the latest version of the XT5 will be much lighter as it will lose 278 pounds compared to before. It makes it 100 pounds lighter than the Audi Q5 and 650 pounds less than the Mercedes GLE-Class .
Interior changes and styling
The interior of the Cadillac XT5 takes things to a whole new level. In fact, the interior has so many beautiful updates that it looks equally good and comfortable. The cut and sewn wrapped panels are the first things you’ll notice and the car also uses a new rearview mirror system. In the center stack, you’ll find a new updated CUE system with a faster processor and a larger screen. There’s a place to charge your smartphone and also an internet connection.
Wood grain inserts are made for the door panels and around the instrument cluster door openings around the steering wheel. The steering wheel itself contains several additional controls that you can use for your driving and infotainment settings. The DIC is digital, but everything else uses traditional analog. The rear section offers 40-20-40 folding options to give you more cargo space.
Drivetrain
The U.S. version of the Cadillac XT5 will actually be powered by an engine seen in many other Cadillac vehicles. We’re talking, of course, about the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder used on the CTS, ATS and CT6 models. It’s equipped with start/stop functionality, variable valve timing and active fuel management and cylinder deactivation technology, and it’s quite capable of producing 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the powertrain will be paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission that’s standard with Electronic Precision Shift.
What is the acceleration time and the maximum speed?
Based on the current specifications that the Cadillac XT5 can deliver, we will get similar specifications to the cars that the engine borrows. It will be able to accelerate to 0-62 mph per hour in 7 seconds and will also offer us a top speed of 125 mph, which is pretty good for the type of car we are getting.
Fuel consumption for the Cadillac XT5
Fuel economy will not be the part that the Cadillac XT5 can boast about. Even with the lightweight numbers and the weight reduction of the car, it is difficult to say that this model is fuel efficient. The numbers are here to prove it and we can see that the EPA says it uses 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, with a combined effort of just 19 mpg. But the car did not impress us with its fuel ratings, so we can consider that part secondary.
Safety equipment and statistics
The new Cadillac XT5 will come with various safety features like any other Cadillac model. The car will add front and rear airbags and will also include driver awareness and driver assistance packages. These can add lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, side blind zone alert, adaptive cruise control and automatic parking assist. The XT5 will also add the rearview mirror that was first used on the CT6 models.
Dimensions
In terms of dimensions and size, the Cadillac XT5 will not change that much compared to its SRX brand. The model will be 112.5 inches long, have a wheelbase of 189.5 inches, a height of 66.0 inches and a width of 75.0 inches. The estimated curb weight is 3,999 pounds for the FWD version and 4,277 pounds for the AWD version.
Competing cars
The competition will not rest and although the Cadillac XT5 has been updated, it will still face the best luxury cars in the segment. These are probably the BMW X3 M and the Audi Q5 , which have been the unparalleled rulers in the market so far, and it will be interesting to see if the XT5 has what it takes to topple them.
