Chevrolet Cruze 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The Chevrolet Cruze offers a complete novelty for the American audience, and that is a hatchback version. This model is actually nothing new, as it has been seen on the streets of other markets outside America, but has never been released here.
Chevrolet Cruze
Recently, the American public has been showing a growing affection for hatchback cars, so Chevy saw an opportunity and decided to release the vehicle here. The model was actually unveiled for the first time at the recent North American International Show, and we will finally be able to see what it has to offer fans in the States.
The Chevrolet Cruze has been a stable car for GM in their respective markets. It has sold quite well and has been one of the most popular cars when looking at the overall hatchback sales. With the growing market in Europe, which has seen a 9% increase in overall hatchback sales, it is no wonder that GM North Europa has decided to use one of their most popular hatches for sale in the Europe. They will only modify it slightly and ensure that the vehicle can be adapted to the needs of the Europe buyers.
We expect them to carry over the platform of the previous Cruze model used here, which will allow the car to reduce weight and improve some of its performance characteristics. The parts that have undergone a refresh include both the interior and exterior, but the engines will be tweaked a bit and undergo an overhaul. This was very expected as the car will have to be adapted to a completely different group of buyers. Nevertheless, we see this as a great opportunity and people here will no doubt be happy to have this type of product.
High-tech technology has always been the basic requirement of a Chevy Cruze model and it is roughly updated here. The same goes for the safety of the car which is enhanced with some of the latest and advanced features making this car very adaptable for the Europe.
Now that the prices have been released and the Chevrolet Cruze is almost ready to go on sale after the release date, we can review the car and talk about its latest features and updates.
When is the Chevrolet Cruze expected to be released?
The Chevrolet Cruze has already made its debut at the North American International Show and we saw that the vehicle has potential. However, back then, it was not known that the model would be sold in America. Now that it has been revealed, it makes this car even bigger and it opens up a lot more perspective and possibilities for it. The vehicle will slide really well into the American hatchback market and we hope it can do so easily too. Many people say that it will not make its debut until the end of the year, but we are confident that a mid- release date is more than possible. All in all, the Chevy Cruze will go on sale any day now.
Chevrolet Cruze price lists
The prices for the Chevrolet Cruze have already been released and they are not disappointing. In fact, the hatch will cost very close as a base version as we only get a €195 increase. Thus, the base price for the car starts at €22,190 MSRP. The hatch will not be available in either the L or LS trim, but we will have a Premier. The price for this package is estimated at €24,190, while the RS package is confirmed but the price has not been released yet. All in all, the hatch is a great new offering and will surely give other models a run for their money and we are extremely confident that this car will make it in the American market.
The Chevrolet Cruze is a great looking car
If you keep an eye on the new Chevrolet Cruze hatchback, you will immediately see how good it looks. The sedan version is a beautiful car, but the hatch takes it to a whole other level. In fact, the model combines the elements of the already established sedan and expands them with the newly added features. This way, a completely workable formula is created. The grille is the same and it also comes with a larger lower grille. The upper part is smaller, but the aggressive lights make up for it. The folded lines are very sharp, as is the hood, which is good for a model that has more than striking body lines.
The line that starts from the front continues towards the rear of the car and goes straight towards the rear window. In the rear part there is a rear scallop that is a defining element of the side profile of the vehicle. The last part is the rear spoiler that gives it a very nice look and that rivals must surely be afraid of.
Since the low-spec L and LS trims aren’t available for the hatch, they’ll only be offered in the higher-spec LT and Premier forms. This also means that only the best kind of equipment will be applicable here. This is most noticeable on the Premier trim, but all models will use the latest 18-inch wheels. Things get even better when adding the also-announced RS package.
The interior of the car
Inside, the Chevrolet Cruze borrows heavily from its sedan form. This is certainly not a bad thing, as the Cruze sedan’s interior has been recently updated and offers a much better deal than the previous generation model. It is a car that now uses various soft-touch materials and the latest equipment that makes up the latest interior for its hatchback.
The technology has been immensely updated here and the main additions are the 7-inch touchscreen which is used to run the MyLink software. This makes the infotainment system very intuitive and user-friendly as you can manage and operate it easily. Other great additions include Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay which all allow for smartphone integration.
The driver’s instrument cluster is also updated and has a TFT display with a digital speedometer. Again, ergonomics are important as the driver’s position is very good, it allows full use of controls and allows the driver to operate everything without any problem.
The rear of the car offers passengers the much-needed space that only a hatchback can provide. Legroom is great and all thanks to the extended wheelbase that this model comes with. Headroom is not as exceptional as you would expect but it still manages to work well here. This is due to the height of the car which is an inch shorter.
Powertrain updates and features
The latest Chevrolet Cruze has some work done to its engine. The model will use an updated version of the old 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but with an important twist. The iron block will be replaced mainly with aluminum parts, which will help the car to significantly reduce its weight while improving the production of the car. The model will also come with direct injection and four valves per cylinder with variable timing.
In this case, the power is improved by 15 horsepower while the torque is increased by 28 pound-feet. The total power is thus calculated at 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, which will certainly help the vehicle to offer a better deal compared to the rivals. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, depending on your choice.
0-62 mph per hour and maximum speed
The changes made to the powertrain of the Chevrolet Cruze additionally help make the model faster. The vehicle offers us a better acceleration ability, which improves compared to the sedan model. Since the hatch has a more powerful engine and is much lighter, it is normal to say that the specifications will also improve. The vehicle has 8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km per hour and will also be impressive for other drivers and potential buyers. As for the top speed, it will be limited to a standard speed of 200 km / h.
Fuel consumption for the Chevrolet Cruze
With the lighter Chevrolet Cruze and all the updates that the model adds, we get a vehicle that offers some interesting fuel economy rates. Based on the current news, the model will probably be able to consume 28-29 mpg in the city and 37-38 mpg on the highway, making this model pretty solid. We are still not sure if the statistics are accurate, but it will certainly be interesting to see them definitively and use this car. The model will be very interesting for people who are looking for a car with better fuel economy.
Dimensions of the car
As expected, the dimensions of the Chevrolet Cruze will now be different as the hatchback model is introduced. The model has a longer wheelbase and shorter height and has been adapted to the shape of a hatch. The exterior dimensions now indicate that the model is 175.3 inches long and the wheelbase is now 106.3 inches, width 70.5 inches and height 57.7 inches. Inside, behind the second row you have an impressive 18.5 cubic feet of load space, while behind the first row the space is 42 cubic feet, the total passenger volume is calculated to be somewhere around 93 cu ft.
New security updates for a new market
To make the transition from a global vehicle to a U.S.-spec vehicle, the Chevrolet Cruze had to make major adjustments to its safety setup. What we got was certainly not what we expected, as Chevy has evolved and added a pretty innovative setup that rivals even the best models on the market. There are new types of technology for the hatch that the base model didn’t have before. Additions include lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist. There’s a special feature specifically for parents, the Teen Driver feature, which lets you keep an eye on your kids while getting driving stats.
The rivals that welcome the Chevrolet Cruze
The models that will give the Chevrolet Cruze a warm welcome are all established models and veterans in the field. These cars are the only reason why the hatchback market in America has grown so much and why Cruze was allowed to compete in the same weight class as them. But the Chevy Cruze does not come unprepared. It has a lot of international experience that it will surely use in the fight to get to the top of the segment. It may not crash any sales records in its first year, but we see it doing well for sure. The models that have sold well here are the Ford Focus hatchback and the Hyundai Elantra GT, which are selling very well here. The coming time will tell us how Cruze is ready to overcome the new obstacles that lie ahead.
