Chevrolet Silverado SS 2025: The Return of the Legendary High-Performance Pickup
The all-new Chevrolet Silverado SS could really happen. According to the latest reports, this pickup truck will go on sale in a year. The “SS” variant was introduced in 2003 as a high-performance version of this light pickup truck. It is based on a standard Silverado 1500 and is powered by a 6.0-liter with 345 horsepower. Nowadays, we can see many renderings and hear many rumors about its comeback.
Pick up Chevrolet Silverado SS
Yes, nothing is official yet, but this version actually makes sense. The performance-oriented pickup is what every manufacturer is offering in today’s world. The goal is to deliver more power, more aggressive styling and improve off-road capability. Here’s everything we know about the possible comeback of the legendary Silverado SS.
Will Silverado bring back SS?
Definitely, this model is going to happen. The latest renderings show the Chevrolet Silverado SS as a sporty-looking pickup truck. It has the same design as the fourth-generation Silverado. Of course, the headlights are different, along with the revised grille. The lower fascia is very unique, and the character lines on the hood are just perfect. The goal is to create a muscular appearance, and new renderings show just that.
On the sides, the Silverado SS looks more dramatic and has a lower stance thanks to the new suspension. This should result in additional grip. In addition, new wheels and tires are visible at first glance. The same wheels are similar to those on the Camaro SS. Chevy will also upgrade the brakes and you should expect plenty of badges. The rear section will offer new tailgate and quad exhaust tips. Don’t be surprised if Chevrolet also offers a sunroof as an option.
Cabin appearance
The interior design of the Chevrolet Silverado SS will look very modern. On the other hand, don’t expect a luxurious cabin. The most luxurious interior, unfortunately, requires a lot of optional amenities. Nevertheless, the SS version will not be bad at all. Chevy will focus on sportiness and good comfort. That means you should expect sporty bucket seats, unique contrast stitching and, of course, a sporty steering wheel.
The manufacturer will surely provide plenty of chrome materials with a unique control layout. Expect good safety ratings and the latest high-tech features. These include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a new version of the infotainment system.
Motor
This is the biggest question so far. However, many experts are convinced that the Chevy Silverado SS will use a 6.2-liter engine. This engine produces 420 horsepower. However, thanks to Chevy’s retuning, it produces around 455 horsepower.
The same powertrain delivers 460 lb-ft of torque and uses an 8-speed automatic transmission. The AWD system is standard on the SS version, so expect good traction and excellent off-road capability. As we said, Chevrolet will improve the mechanicals, including the brakes and suspension.
Price and release date
The new model will certainly cost around €50,000 (Euros). That’s less than the incoming Ram Rebel TRX , but this pickup offers 707 horsepower. As for the Chevy Silverado SS, the performances are great, but still below its main competitor. If the coronavirus outbreak ends before the summer, Chevrolet will release the new SS version by the end of the year.
