Chevrolet Sonic 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
With the newly appointed coming of the Chevrolet Sonic, we see a car that will improve the improvements that were missed last time. The previous refresh came for the 2016 model and it worked out well, but the upcoming one will really surprise us as they managed to add a lot.
Chevrolet Sonic
The Sonic still uses the Gamma II platform, and even though it is outdated, they still don’t plan on dropping it. The previous model did well in terms of sales, and even if the design is a bit dated, the Sonic does well with the youth, being perhaps the number one car in terms of choice for the younger audience. The latest version of the Sonic will add a major refresh to the styling of the car, but will also address some parts inside the vehicle.
The Chevrolet Sonic will be released this year, which gave us a reason to give our review, and will offer many of the parts that established it as a fun vehicle. Excellent fuel economy and the use of new technology are what attract most people and will be what you will find in the Sonic. Read on for more news
When is the release date of the Chevrolet Sonic?
The announcement about the Chevrolet Sonic was also followed by the statement about a release date. It is now certain that the car will be available this fall, before the name of the vehicle says so, and it is good news that allows us to get this car as soon as possible.
Has the price been announced?
Surprisingly, the price of the Chevrolet Sonic has not been confirmed. However, this will be fixed very soon and we can expect to receive the prices of the car very soon. For now, we can base the future price on the current figures, which will probably be €16,000 (Euros), also for the sedan and hatchback versions.
A new upscale look
The exterior of the Chevrolet Sonic will now coincide with the rest of the Chevy cars. The majority of the cars that have been launched recently will adopt some key features for the Sonic model. This will make the Sonic look quite different from the car we saw in the previous incarnation. Namely, the front part of the car will receive some details such as a completely new hood and a stylized upper grille. The lower part of the grille is much larger and adds some chrome parts and includes vertical slits. The headlights are also slightly changed and have different lights.
The rear will be much more refined compared to before, but there are not many changes. In fact, the changes made are just enough to transform the car for a new look. The shape and size is the same as the previous car and this one will add a new bumper that is sportier and adds different types of elements. The sedan version adds a different character line at the back and both also get new taillights.
The side of the car is mostly unchanged, except for the character line, which now runs towards the rear wheels. Wheels are offered in 15-inch, 16-inch and 17-inch versions, and there are also new color options, including Brimstone, Arctic Blue Metallic, Orange Burst Metallic and Cajun Red Tintcoat.
New interior
The interior of the Chevrolet Sonic will apparently not change that much. They will include parts that will make it similar to before, but updated with modern elements. That is, the instrument cluster will be analog and the same goes for the speedometer. The steering wheel will get a new design, but everything else will mostly remain the same.
The technology is being updated as some announcements are being made that sound very interesting for the Sonic. The infotainment system is getting a larger touchscreen and the same system is supporting new types of connectivity features available for the car. Passengers will be able to connect up to seven devices at once and use them during their ride.
For more comfort, you can use electric seats that are available to the driver. All seats are upholstered in fabric and the color scheme uses red and also adds piano black. The seats have heating and cooling options while keyless entry and start options are also available.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, the Chevrolet Sonic will have the same pair of engines as last time. This includes the base 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine and the optional 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Both engines are capable of delivering 138 horsepower, but the base engine has 125 pound-feet of torque, while the optional engine delivers 148 pound-feet.
The entry-level engine can be used with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The optional version is used with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Top speed and 0-62 mph per hour acceleration
With the same engines offered for the Chevrolet Sonic, this also means that the specs remain the same. This means that with the base engine you can achieve 0-60 mph in 9.7 seconds, while the optional engine allows this in 7.8 seconds, while both reach a top speed of 108 mph.
What can be said about fuel consumption?
Actually, the fuel economy of the Chevrolet Sonic is also carried over from the previous version. This allows the 1.8-liter models to achieve a rating of 26 MPG city, 35 MPG highway and 30 MPG combined, while the 1.4-liter models have an EPA rating of 29/40/33 MPG. It is suitable for a small car to work like this, so we will not have any errors in the car’s fuel economy.
Dimensions and trunk capacity
The Chevrolet Sonic will not change dimensions this time and this part could be saved for the next generation, although we believe that this will not happen even then. The model looks as usual balanced and proportioned like a small car and has a style that is very suitable for larger cities and helps when looking for a parking space.
A standard set of security features
The Chevrolet Sonic will continue to be a well-equipped car in terms of safety. It will give us a number of devices that we were used to from the previous model. These include 10 airbags, lane departure warning and forward collision alert as standard, but options such as a rearview camera and rear parking sensors are also included as standard offerings on these versions.
What are the rivals to expect?
The segment is already filled with popular cars, and the Chevrolet Sonic will be in more familiar company. The best-driving subcompacts include the Ford Fiesta and Kia Rio, which would be the best competitors in their respective segments.
