Design and interior
Dacia unveiled the Bigster concept earlier this year and our images preview what the production model could look like when it’s unveiled in . The front of the car features a full-width grille that houses the latest version of Dacia’s Y-shaped headlight design. It also features adjacent LED lights in the grille as part of the front light bar. Below that is a square front bumper with a large central grille, two vertical air intakes and a contrasting silver trim frame.
From the side, the Bigster shares several design features with the smaller Duster SUV, such as the angular wheel arches that house large 10-spoke alloy wheels. Square roof bars similar to those on the Duster and Sandero Stepway are also present. The entire lower part of the car is covered in black plastic body cladding.
At the rear, there are twin Y-shaped taillights and a tailgate design with a large ‘Dacia’ logo with a chunky silver contrast insert in the upper half of the bumper. The Bigster’s interior promises plenty of space and practicality, although it is not yet known whether Dacia plans to offer a seven-seater model. Although there are no details on the new car’s interior, we would expect it to follow the design of the new Sandero, with a floating central infotainment screen and plenty of useful storage compartments.
Technical data
Dacia announced that the Bigster EV will be based on Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi’s CMF-EV platform, which is specifically designed for electric vehicles. It is likely that the Bigster EV will be equipped with an electric motor that offers power of up to 200 hp (147 kW) and torque of 360 Nm or more.
Battery size and range are currently unknown, but the Bigster EV is expected to offer a similar range to other electric vehicles on the market, possibly around 400 km or more.
Dimensions, prices and competitors
At 4.6 metres long, the Bigster will be Dacia’s largest model to date. Despite its size, Dacia says the new car will still offer good value for money, with a price closer to that of smaller SUVs: “The Bigster is Dacia’s way of making the C-segment accessible, delivering a larger, more capable vehicle at the cost that buyers from the segment below would expect.”
When it arrives, the Bigster will sit above the Duster in the company’s range. Despite being a flagship model, it will be priced close to smaller SUVs like the Volkswagen T-Roc and Skoda Enyaq iV starting at around €23,300 (Euro), while also being an indirect competitor to larger SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq.
