Dodge Challenger SRT 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

Despite its age, the current generation of the Dodge Challenger SRT is putting up some pretty impressive numbers, especially when compared to direct rivals the Mustang and Camaro , which are much younger. However, the current generation has been around for far too long, since 2009.

In many ways, it looks very dated and many feel it’s time to move on to offer something more than just extra horsepower. That’s why many believe the redesign could happen soon. Some sources believe it could be the Dodge Challenger SRT.

What’s new ?

Dodge isn’t making any major changes to the Hellcat-powered Challengers for the model year. The only difference from its predecessor is that every model now comes standard with a deluxe security alarm. Groovy.

The widebody version looks cooler with its flared fenders and better grips, thanks mainly to wider wheels and tires, so we’d go for that one. Despite the fact that the SRT Hellcat is all about excess, we wouldn’t go for the Redeye model, which bumps power up to nearly 800 horses. In fact, the Redeye wasn’t any faster than the standard Hellcat during our testing because its tires just couldn’t put the extra grunt to the ground.

Engine, transmission and performance

The mad scientists in Dodge’s SRT lab pulled a Samuel L. Jackson and ran everything Old Testament with the almighty Hellcat engine. The standard setup makes “only” 717 horsepower, and the version in the Redeye pumps out 797 horses. The 807-hp Super Stock model has special equipment for drag racing. Paired with the optional eight-speed automatic transmission, the last Challenger SRT Redeye Widebody we tested roared to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and completed the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds at 125 mph.

We’ve driven several Hellcats and – as expected – never got tired of tapping into the endless power supply. However, getting the unruly beast to launch straight and true is an exercise in extreme car control. Each model had an insidious growl on start-up that develops into a hellish howl under heavy throttle. The Hellcat’s distinct supercharger howl will send shivers down your spine, either from fear or excitement – most likely both. These high-performance challengers may not be the ultimate tools for a track attack event, but they’re hellishly fast in a straight line and handle well enough to navigate winding back roads – provided your heavy right foot knows when to let up.

Exterior design

As mentioned, the current generation still looks great despite its age. That’s why we believe that the new Dodge Challenger SRT would come with only subtle changes. Dodge designers would stick to the same formula that includes many retro styling elements that are clearly reminiscent of previous generations of the Challenger from the golden era of muscle cars.

We expect the new model to retain a similar size and proportions. On the other hand, as mentioned above, the new model would be significantly lighter.

Inner

The styling of the current generation has aged well. However, we cannot say anything about the cabin design. The dashboard looks outdated, while the materials and quality should be better. Therefore, we have high expectations for the next-generation Dodge Challenger SRT . We bet on more attractive aesthetics and finer materials, as well as improved build quality.

As mentioned, the next generation should maintain a similar size. This means we can expect similar interior space as well. This has always been one of the Challenger’s strengths, as it is the only muscle car that can accommodate adults in the second row. The new model should be at least as good as its predecessor. Of course, we’re also betting on a decently sized cargo boot.

Dodge Challenger SRT Release Date

If we can trust the latest reports, the next generation will arrive next year. Without a doubt, the Dodge Challenger SRT will continue to compete against its main rivals, the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang. The starting price for the base trim is 50,000 euros.
