Dodge Neon SRT

The Neon nameplate has always been reserved for a small compact car. Although it was discontinued in North America 15 years ago, we can still find models with this name in certain parts of the world. This refers in particular to Mexico and the Middle East, where we can still find this model.

Neon SRT

However, this model is completely different from what we have seen in North America. It is practically a rebadged version of the European compact Fiat Tipo. Nowadays we find reports suggesting that this nameplate could return to North America as the Dodge Neon SRT.

In this case, we don’t think it will be a rebadged Fiat Tipo . Instead, we’re pretty sure FCA would develop a completely new model. Also, it’s hard to believe that this model could pass as a compact hatchback or sedan again, although we don’t rule out that possibility. However, a small crossover with that name seems to be a more likely option. At this point, we can only speculate.

Design

At this point, the Dodge Neon SRT is just a rumor. So, the best we can do is speculate. At this point, we see two possibilities for this nameplate. Of course, once again, we can see a Fiat Tipo-based compact car. The other possibility is to see a more contemporary approach, which would mean a small crossover.

Compact car design

As mentioned, the first option is to see another compact car. In this case, we are pretty sure that the Dodge Neon would not be any different from the model we can find in Mexico. This is basically a rebranded Fiat Tipo, with a slight revision at the front and a few tweaks at the rear. Essentially, the design differences are minimal.

Dodge Neon-Crossover

The other possibility is to offer Dodge Neon in a more modern layout. Of course, we are thinking of a small crossover and there are many possibilities in this scenario. As you know, FCA is now part of Stellantis, which also includes automakers such as Peugeot , Citroen and Opel . Peugeot has already announced that they have a plan to return to the North American market, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see one of the rebranded crossovers with this nameplate.

In this case, the Dodge Neon would come as either a subcompact or compact crossover. Of course, we are thinking of a rebadged version of models like the 2008 or Peugeot e-1008 , which definitely have a lot of great things to offer. These SUVs look fantastic, offer solid mechanics and a stylish interior design comparable to most premium car manufacturers.

Price

The catch with such a design is that the new Dodge Neon SRT would be really affordable. The Mexican model costs just 10500 euros, and that’s amazing for something that actually competes in the compact car segment, where there are models like Civic or GR Corolla that are significantly more expensive. The secret lies in a simple design. The above-mentioned Japanese models are far superior in every way, but we have no doubt that many motorists would rather pay a bargain price for a decent car.
What’s also interesting is that Fiat Tipo is available in three body styles. You can get a sedan layout, a compact hatchback style, and even a station wagon. This versatility at such an affordable price sounds like music to our ears.
