Ford Edge 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The latest Ford Edge will continue its production for the coming year. Since they decided to split the car and exclude the third row of seats, the brand is experiencing a boom. It manages to adapt better road manners and more interior comfort by skipping the third row of seats and now also offers better safety ratings.
Ford Edge
The version will continue under the same premise and give us the same type of vehicle with some updated features. About 10 years ago, the Ford Edge brand wasn’t doing so well. But with the massive changes the Edge has made, it is one of the best-selling brands Ford has to offer buyers.
They split the crossover lineup down the middle and gave buyers a good choice for a family type. The model only went into production in 2007 and it only took 10 years of marketing the car for the public to sink their teeth in. Not since the Edge is one of the most openly sold products that Ford releases, people are very excited to bring the next product in the lineup.
Design
The latest Ford Edge version has released images of the upcoming design model, so we were prompted to do a review before the release date is set. This model is a great choice for those who don’t need a third row of seats like in Explorer or Flex vehicles, but can still take advantage of the cargo capacity that Escape models can offer. Also, this model will add a new cold weather package that fans have been craving and will also update the wheels. There are 20-inch models that are available now and will be an interesting choice. The latest model will also be available in SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport trim levels and will continue to offer it this time as well.
Update: The latest Ford Edge has everything the soul desires. It sits in a sweet spot in the Ford lineup between Escape and Explorer. Its styling is very recognizable and makes it very distinguishable for a Ford model. It comes with multiple engine options, with the Sport version being the top of the litter. You have engine versions that are economical and those that are fast and loud. The interior is also part of the whole formula. For a mid-size car, it has just enough room to accommodate people in its two rows of seats. There is plenty of space and you will feel very comfortable and think that you are in good shape when you stay here. These reasons alone are just enough to make the Ford Edge vehicle the ultimate weekend warrior among cars.
The Ford Edge carries over most of the advantages that the vehicle has. It is spacious inside and has extra range and a very intuitive infotainment system. There are still the same engine options that users can choose from depending on their needs. But the model also has its flaws. The base safety system does not include advanced active safety options. They are still available on the advanced versions, but these come at a higher cost. Thus, the additional safety system has a very high price.
However, in the case of the Ford Edge, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of the vehicle, so we are pretty sure that this model is one that we can expect more attention from this time around. Here are some updates about the car that came out recently. We present them to you with our first review.
Despite the competitiveness of the new Ford Edge promises, there are other alternatives in this segment that could make it difficult to sell. These include the Kia Sorrento, Nissan Murano , Jeep Grand Cherokee and VW Touareg .
When is the release date for the Ford Edge car?
The upcoming release date for the Ford Edge is expected to arrive at the beginning of the model year. The announcements have not been made official yet, but as far as the redesign goes, it won’t be too long before the expected arrival time is set for the beginning of the year. Ford has not commented on its arrival date and mostly tries to keep things to themselves when it comes to release dates. However, since this model hasn’t been through much, confirmation won’t take too long. Since this is a simple refresh with only a few minor changes, we can be sure that the car will be out soon.
Update: The initial news about the Ford Edge release date didn’t give us a clear picture of when the car would be released. But now with the updated information, we know that the vehicle will be offered in January . We have been told that the model will come out at the beginning of the year and it is much clearer now when we have a date to support this fact. We also expect sales to increase with this model and Ford has high expectations for it as well.
Ford Edge Pricing
The new range of Ford Edge models will not change prices that much compared to the current one. The models will start somewhere at a base MSRP of $28,950, like the current SE model stands, with SEL starting at around $31,000, Titanium at $35,000, and Sport at around $40,000. As you can see, the prices match the current ones very closely. All trim levels have received minor updates and prices are not affected that much by this. From our point of view, it is very good that the popular brand maintains its current price and continues to attract the audience. A much higher boost will surely come when the higher-ups decide that it is time for a new generation model.
What will the exterior of the Ford Edge look like?
The latest version of the Ford Edge doesn’t change the lines and features established in the previous refresh. They just continue that kind of design with a few nips and tucks here and there. The grille is still large and the front end is rough enough and the side view is framed by some inclined pillars. The car still has a sleeker profile compared to some rival models, offering an overall lighter but more agile appearance.
It can be said that the Ford Edge car is able to bridge the space between a luxury and a commercial vehicle as it can accommodate the features of both. In the Edge, you can even find some details that you can also see on a luxury BMW car. If you look closely, you can see that the B-pillars are a bit like a BMW and if you add a black-out panel, it becomes a luxury model. The sports trims will lose their usual shine for them, but they will still have the sports car features that we are used to.
Although the styling of the Ford Edge is more or less the same, it doesn’t take too much away from the car. The brand is already established and they know what they have, even when the current generation model came out. This version is there to update the hit model and freshen it up a bit, as it competes in a busy segment. It’s always good when you can get some help and be as competitive as you used to be.
Update: Perhaps the best news about the Ford Edge is the addition of the SEL Sport Appearance package. This has the biggest impact on the vehicle’s exterior appearance. It promises to use less chrome and adopts darker shades. Some highlights include the gray painted grille, rear spoiler, mirror caps and skid plate, as well as 19-inch wheels. This is a great option for people who want to personalize their cars in a certain way.
Interior changes
Inside, the Ford Edge will receive more updates for the upcoming model. They actually manage to get a car that has a fuller and richer interior compared to the current rivals. It has a higher dashboard with soft-touch materials all around that combine with the interior theme to get a great and comfortable car for us. One of the biggest changes is that the hard buttons are now kept for the car and we get them back here too.
The changed layout for the dashboard is also very simple and also very well integrated with the entire interior. It offers us great styling and excludes the touchscreen options and sticks to the familiar ones that affect the settings better and is now a much better choice for the model in its base version. The interior comfort of the Ford Edge is great as always and the interior settings do not change that much in the Edge. So in general we get a car with some improvements in the interior that improve comfort and we are confident that this could lead to better popularity of the model.
Update: Updates to the interior of the Ford Edge also include highlights related to the SEL Sport Appearance package. This package allows you to give your Ford Edge more attitude and it adopts new cloth seating surfaces and certain trims that give the cabin a very chic new styling. In general, the cabin of the Ford Edge is very comfortable and will please many occupants who will drive in this car.
Engines
The engine option for the Ford Edge will also not change. The car will carry over the lineup and we will continue to use the same offering as before. This includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 that produces 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque and also pairs with a 6-speed automatic shifter. Sport versions will include the power of a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 that produces 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque for this car and pairs with the same type of transmission as the base model.
Although the base setup is pretty good, fans have turned to the Sport mainly because of the better performance. It may well be the case that this trend continues and fans continue to go in the same direction in terms of performance. The Ford Edge will not change dramatically, so if we base it on the current numbers and trend, the more powerful engine will get more attention.
What is the 0-62 mph per hour performance?
Since the engine lineup doesn’t change, the speed of the Ford Edge doesn’t change either. This means that it will still take 5.6 seconds to reach 100 km per hour from a standstill and it will reach a top speed of 132 mph. As we said, these are still good enough for the Edge. The public had no problem with the current and offered numbers, so we don’t see a problem with it now if the vehicle doesn’t change. Probably a more powerful engine and an engine with more power could be expected in the future, but the numbers are fine for us so far.
Fuel consumption specifications
The EPA ratings will also carry over for the Ford Edge, and we expect more of the same here as well. The base version makes 20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, 24 mpg combined with the FWD versions, while the AWD ratings make it 20/27/23 mpg. With the 3.5-liter V-6, the car gets 17/26/20 mpg, while the 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 option offers a 17/24/19 mpg rating. People have been expecting fuel economy to improve significantly compared to the last generation of Edge models, since those engines have small displacement. However, the fuel economy ratings remain at a model rate. They aren’t getting any better for now, and it would be nice if they could manage to bring something here and improve. It would do a lot for the car and make it much easier to beat the competition.
Dimensions change
The new Ford Edge does not have any dimensional changes for this version of the vehicle. We can expect to get the same length of 188.1 inches, wheelbase of 112.2 inches, height of 68.6 inches and width of 75.9 inches as the latest version. The biggest advantages of this car are the passenger volume and cargo capacity, which leave the vehicle at 39 cubic feet for the occupants while driving and a space of 117 cubic feet to pack their things. There was no need to change anything now.
In fact, we don’t see any change in these numbers even if the car gets a new generation vehicle. The Ford Edge size is pretty decent and helps the car do the necessary job. It even offers a very decent interior with a passenger volume of 117 cu ft. Let’s not forget the cargo space which comes in at 39 cu ft and helps you pack a lot more than your average car in this segment. This part is probably the one that best suits the specific vehicle.
What are the safety ratings?
Safety ratings for the Ford Edge will also carry over, as we get similar setups and offerings for the car. Standard features include inflatable rear seatbelts, additional cameras, and forward collision warnings. Despite this, it offers excellent crash performance. The previous model received a positive review from the IIHS, which received good ratings across the board and was only acceptable in small overlap tests. It still managed to get a Top Safety Pick+ rating. The NHTSA gave the model a five-star rating overall, with rollover resistance only four stars – as is common with SUVs. We expect similar safety specs for the upcoming version.
Update: With the updated information we got about the Ford Edge, we were also able to find out that the model will get new active safety features. It includes Safe and Smart packages that you can only get on SEL, Titanium and Sport models. Within the package, the vehicle has adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam headlights, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and more. The car already has a Top Safety Pick, so it will only get safer with the given upgrades.
If you want to know more about the Ford Edge, you can read our first test, which you can find below, using the information provided there and that provided in the update of the study on the performance and perspective of the vehicle.
Rivals list
The Ford Edge will have the same competition when it comes to the vehicles that will be released in this segment. The Edge will not be alone here and we have many models that will be popping up and looking for attention as well. Some of them are GMC Terrain , Honda CR-V , Nissan Murano and Volkswagen Touareg , and many people will be confused as to which one to get. That being said, the Ford Edge has an established fan base that will surely rally to get the new car, but it remains to be seen if people will be interested in a partial and scarce refresh like the version of the Edge was given. We will wait and see.
