Evos Design

These latest spy shots show a new Ford in testing that has similar-looking headlights to the Evos.
It also seems like this new model will share the Evos’ curved roofline and auto-retracting door handles.
Some details appear to be different, including the rear arches and the height of the hood – suggesting that this is a new model that uses elements of the Evos design, rather than just a European version of the same car .

Mondeo engines

There are no details on what engines the Evos will have, so it’s also not clear what engines might be available for the Mondeo replacement. The test car clearly has an exhaust, so Ford is testing petrol, diesel or hybrid versions. It’s likely that the majority of the new car’s engines will be fitted with some sort of mild-hybrid system to boost fuel economy and curb emissions.
Ford also promised autonomous driving technology for the Evos, which could also come to the Mondeo replacement, and connected technology that will allow the car to communicate with the world around it – although this technology isn’t being implemented as quickly in the West as it is in China.

Mondeo interior

There are no spy shots of the Mondeo replacement’s interior, but you can use the Evos as a guide to what it might look like. The China-only model’s cabin features an amazing 27-inch screen that practically covers the entire dashboard, with just a few buttons and plenty of smart-looking materials.
There’s a large center console with a gear selector and some storage, and images show contrasting orange accents can be found throughout the cabin – something that could be seen on high-spec models.

Plug-in hybrid Evos borrows drivetrain from escape model

The new Ford Evos will borrow powertrain options from the Mach-E crossover and the Escape PHEV model . This means that the Evos will use a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine, the same unit that powers the new Bronco Sport. This power is rated at 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Evos will offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain as an option.

However, exact specifications are not yet available. The thing is that the numbers will not be the same as in the Escape PHEV variant. Instead, Blue Oval will probably opt for less power since it is a model specific to the Chinese market. What is certain is that the all-electric variant will not exist, despite numerous rumors.
