Ford Kuga 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The new Ford Kuga Hybrid will share many similarities with the all-new Escape crossover . However, the US version will offer more features and options. Kuga will definitely not be a seven-seat crossover, but it will get a hybrid powertrain and an ST version before the Escape.

Making one of Europe’s best-selling crossovers even better and more versatile is the key to its success. Multiple powertrains, trim levels and plenty of safety features make it even more attractive not only to younger customers but also to older buyers.
Probably the most exciting version will be the Ford Kuga Hybrid. Better fuel economy of the compact crossover will make a difference in the market. Well, it’s already one of the best in class in this segment. At the other end sits an ST model with a powerful EcoBoost engine. The crossover produces 280 hp, beating the Escape’s 245 hp, which the US model gets from a 2.0-l turbocharged unit. The premiere of the new Kuga will attract a lot of attention, especially if Ford reveals all the details.
Technical data
At this moment, the company revealed some details about the hybrid and plug-in variants. However, the Ford Kuga will also carry petrol and diesel units, which will likely be carried over from its predecessors. The smallest displacement is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine with an output of 120 hp. This unit can also deliver 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque. The petrol powertrain also offers 150 and 180 hp configurations, while the twist remains the same. The transmission has six steps and it is up to buyers whether they want to choose an automatic or manual transmission.
The alternative to a gasoline engine is two diesel units. The same displacement offers four cylinders. A 1.5-liter diesel can produce 120 hp and between 200-220 lb-ft (270-300 Nm) of torque. There are also other diesel configurations that offer the same power as the gasoline unit. However, the heart of this system is a 2.0-liter engine. You can choose between 150 and 180 hp. You also benefit from torque, as the larger unit can produce either 270 or 295 pound-feet (370 or 400 Nm).
Ford Focus
Besides these three engines, the Ford Kuga Hybrid also offers different configurations. First of all, there is a base hybrid. It will use the same system as the upcoming Escape. The crossover for the US market combines a 2.5-liter four-pot engine with electric motors to achieve 210 hp. That’s all we know about the Escape Hybrid and its outputs. Kuga Hybrid will likely get the same power, and engineers claim that the European crossover’s fuel consumption will be around 5.7 l/100 km (40 mpg).
The other solution is to pair a diesel engine with batteries to get more power and better fuel economy. This is a great move by Ford because the diesel emits less gases. According to announcements, the rate will fall below 130 g / km. The system will combine a 2.0-liter diesel engine (150 hp version) and the electric motor. With this battery, the new powertrain will reach 5 l / 100 km (47 mpg). This will be the EcoBlue Hybrid.
PHEV
The top model in the hybrid range will be the Ford Kuga Hybrid PHEV. This is again the same configuration that Escape will offer. With a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, an electric motor and the battery pack, the crossover produces 230 hp. This version can also move only on electric energy. The range is over 50 km per charge. We do not yet have exact data on the charging speed and other possibilities for this model. One thing is certain – the Ford Kuga PHEV offers less space in the cabin, since the electric motor takes place under the rear seats.
Ford Kuga ST-Line
The hybrid model could be interesting because it is new. However, most fans always choose performance in terms of fuel economy and environment. The vehicle for them is the Ford Kuga ST. This is a performance-oriented SUV with a special engine. It uses a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder powertrain, boosts it with turbochargers and produces 280 horsepower. Until now, we could see the popular European crossover with a diesel engine. From now on, however, the powertrain from the Focus ST range will be used. In addition to plenty of power, the 2.3-liter unit also offers 420 Nm (310 pound-feet) of torque.
Ford Kuga Hybrid Release Date
The new Ford Kuga Hybrid will arrive in the second half of or even early next year. The company is focused on the US crossover, so the new Kuga will have to wait a bit. However, the hybrid versions will not come with the standard model. We will see it somewhere in mid-.
