Ford Puma 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The Ford Puma will be the new subcompact crossover. The company is already testing it, while the first teaser images became available. However, since there is still so much time before the debut of the new model, we could see a lot of trend reversals. Also, the company has not revealed too many details about the Puma.

SUV Ford Puma

Well, we know it will have something to do with the new Ford Fiesta , which by the way is not coming to Europe. Also, the subcompact segment is already occupied by EcoSport crossover , so we will have to wait and see if Puma replaces the smallest vehicle in the segment.

What do we know so far? The Ford Puma is definitely coming. The US automaker released an official teaser with this model confirmed for next season. However, the exact release date and other details are still missing. We can only rely on the spy photos and test mules, although everyone knows that the vehicle will be different when it goes into production. This is not the only small model that Ford is currently testing. Recently we could see the new compact pickup truck Courier. Therefore, the automaker is paying more attention to small vehicles in the next few years.

Ford Puma Powertrains

Based on the Fiesta, but if some things are common with EcoSport, there are few options for Ford Puma engines. The hatchback uses a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 120 hp and 115 lb-ft of torque. The five-speed manual transmission is standard and the 6-speed automatic transmission is optional. Fiesta can also offer an upgraded version of the same powertrain available on the ST model, in which case the power increases to 200 hp and 202 lb-ft.

On the other hand, EcoSport offers two different units. The base model of the Ford Puma could get a 1.0-liter powerplant. An inline-three engine can deliver 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of twist thanks to turbochargers. A naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-pot unit is an alternative with 165 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. The first sends power to the front wheels, and the second mill shifts power to all four corners of the crossover.

Hybrid

Ford has big plans for the future. The company is promising in every segment. Lately we can see small vehicles emerging (Puma, courier van…). But the bosses are ready to invest a lot in electrification. In the next few years, many Blue Oval vehicles will arrive with either hybrid or plug-in setup. Of course, there will also be fully electric models. So we have reason to believe that the Ford Puma will bring some kind of hybrid setup to the small car segment. Neither Fiesta nor EcoSport offer such configurations. Well, these are just speculations. For official confirmation, we will have to wait until next year.

Ford Puma Spy Photos, Styling

Spy photos of the new crossover are here. Unfortunately, Ford has wrapped the new Puma to hide everything. From the shape of the exterior, we can see that the upcoming model will have some similarities with the new Fiesta. US buyers will not see the subcompact’s fresh hatch next year, so it will be a real refresh.

Competitors

Until this point, Ford is still mysterious about the new crossover. The Ford Puma could serve as a replacement for the EcoSport. Or these two could be siblings like Explorer and Bronco , both offered for the mid-size market. We can also see a similar approach from Nissan , which positioned Rogue Sport between Rogue and subcompact Kicks. More theories exist, but we are sure that the Puma crossover will face strong competition from Toyota C-HR and Honda CR-V . Sales of Hyundai and Kia models are also growing lately.

Ford Puma sales start, production

It’s still over a year before the first official models of the Ford Puma appear. Since it’s a brand new vehicle, the premiere could take place at the brand new Detroit Auto Show. The biggest auto show has been postponed for the summer so that Puma has enough time to get there. However, production and sales will still start in . Ford has already announced plans to build the crossover in the same plants as EcoSport. Most of the units for the European market will come from factories in Craiova, Romania.

Price Ford Puma

The price of the subcompact model will be similar to the existing EcoSport. If the Puma takes the position below the current smallest model, its price could drop below €20,000 (Euro). However, high-end versions and possibly the crossover with ST tuning will cost significantly more. For example, the turbocharged Fiesta is €4,000 (Euro) more than the base Fiesta. A fully equipped EcoSport offers almost €9,000 (Euro) more than the standard version. At this point, however, it is still early to make an accurate prediction. With the confirmation of the engine lineup, we have materials for price estimates.
