Hyundai Motor has officially announced the creation of a new automotive sub-brand, Genesis, to compete with premium brands such as Mercedes, Audi and BMW. The company’s product range already includes four models GV60 , G70 , GV80 , G90 and X EV GT , as well as the new Genesis Essentia EV

This concept clearly shows the direction Genesis vehicle design will take in the foreseeable future. It is also worth noting that the concept is equipped with an all-electric power plant, which company management says has excellent dynamic capabilities. But first things first.
Design
Genesis Essentia EV has an attractive, modern and, without being afraid of the word, futuristic styling.
Demanding fans of the brand will note that the novelty offers a number of similar stylistic solutions as the conceptual crossover Genesis GV80, which the company showed last year.
The front part of the body is represented by an unusual false grille in the shape of a rhombus, an elegant bumper with aerodynamic elements and futuristic double strips of LED headlights “Quad Lights”.
It is noteworthy that within the company such optics are called one of the main “chips” of the brand, which means that in the near future they have every chance of appearing on the Genesis production models.
Another feature of the model turned out to be a transparent hood, which makes it possible to consider the technical component of the concept car.
In profile, a long hood catches the eye, front struts strongly inclined towards the rear, aerodynamic stampings on the sidewalls, as well as massive wheel arches, and the rear arches are more muscular than the front ones.
But the greatest pleasure is the spectacular butterfly-wing doors, which do not have physical handles. So, to get into the car, the owner only needs to put his hand on the surface of the door, after which the system of fingerprint sensors of the fingerprint and the biometric face recognition system will start working.
Laconic, but at the same time spectacular “chopped” feed is represented by a powerful aerodynamic diffuser, stylish strips of LED taillights and a large “Genesis” inscription in the center.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not disclosed the external dimensions of the Essentia, but the naked eye is enough to notice the low height (about 1.27 m) and minimal ground clearance.
At the exhibition, the car was presented in Stardust Gray Metallic color, which positively highlights all the design features of the model, as well as large alloy wheels of the original design with low-profile tires.

The interior design of the Essentia Coupé is minimalist, but not without verve. In front of the driver is a large three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with a large logo in the middle, and directly behind it the manufacturer has placed a large 8-inch LCD screen of the instrument panel.
Particularly noteworthy is the widescreen touchscreen monitor, which extends over almost the entire width of the front panel and is responsible for multimedia, climate and navigation controls.
In addition, the interior of the car has received a digital interior mirror, spectacular 3D carbon fiber trim and 3D printed surfaces that emphasize the personality of the cockpit. The quality of the finishing materials is especially praiseworthy: genuine leather, carbon fiber, soft plastics and polished aluminum.
The driver and the passenger sitting next to him are offered original and comfortable seats with pronounced lateral support and a sufficient number of adjustment options. Between the seats there is a high tunnel covered with high-quality Oxford Blue leather, in the depths of which a capacious battery is installed.
The interior of the concept has a 2 + 2 layout, which implies the presence of a second row of seats, in which, as the manufacturer notes, two adult passengers can easily fit.
In addition, the car received a large luggage compartment, in which there is enough space for storing luggage and for a long weekend trip. True, the exact volume of the trunk is not named.
Separately, I would like to emphasize that the car can interact with the “smart home” system and gadgets of its owner, plan and recommend a route, warn about traffic jams, control a smartphone and make electronic payments.
Another feature of the model is the presence of a translucent roof, which makes the already not small interior feel even lighter and more spacious.
Technical characteristics
Genesis management decided not to disclose information about the technical component of the car, but confirmed that the concept car is equipped with a durable carbon monocoque, and the total power of the electric motors is enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 3 seconds.
Judging by the photos of the digital dashboard, the range of the Genesis Essentia exceeds 373 km (or 232 miles), and the maximum possible speed reaches 268 km / h. Since the car is powered exclusively by electric power, there is no need to talk about such an indicator as fuel consumption.
According to unofficial sources, Essentia received a modern all-wheel drive transmission, as well as a high-performance braking system. In addition, the car is equipped with an adaptive chassis that can interact with the Essentia artificial intelligence, which in turn is able to analyze the topography of the roadway, as well as recognize the driver’s preferences and mood.
It is easy to assume that the steering is complemented by an electric power steering with a variable characteristic, which will allow you to enjoy the most comfortable driving experience regardless of the environment.
