According to Duncan Aldred, the vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “The redesigned Canyon Denali continues its award-winning mix with its increased content, distinctive design and freshness, and luxurious interior that for several years has been the hallmark of what the Denali nameplate was meant to be since its introduction nearly two decades ago.” He continues, “Canyon is the segment’s first and only premium midsize truck that offers unparalleled capability and efficiency, coupled with maneuverability and refinement.”

In summary, GMC seems to have done everything right with the Canyon Denali, and there is no doubt that it will be successful when it hits the market later this year or early next year. Still, the Denali will have to compete with other bigwigs in the segment like the Chevrolet Colorado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali.

In summary, GMC seems to have done everything right with the Canyon Denali, and there is no doubt that it will be successful when it hits the market later this year or early next year. We’d wager that a good majority of people buying the Canyon Denali really want the Sierra Denali, but in a smaller package that will actually fit in their garage. On the other hand, the High Country is the top-of-the-line model for the Chevrolet Colorado, offering Colorado buyers nearly the same level of refinement and luxury, but just with less flash.

Engine specifications

Under the hood of the GMC Canyon Denali lies a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb. ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a standard six-speed automatic transmission, which is tasked with sending the power generated to the wheels. According to GMC, the new model should be able to tow a maximum of about 7,000 pounds on the trailer hitch when properly equipped.

EPA also says the all-wheel-drive V6 Crew Cab should be expected to return fuel economy of 17/24/20 mpg in the city/highway/combined. If you opt for the 2WD, the highway rating drops to 26 mpg.

The new 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder turbodiesel was announced when the Canyon made its original debut in 2014. It’s the engine many have been waiting for. Then it was expected that the engine would be a fuel miser and a torque monster. Well, both expectations were met. The 2WD spec gets 22/31/25 mpg and 20/29/23 mpg for the 4WD option, while the “Baby Duramax” output is rated at 181 hp and 369 lbs. ft. of torque. Of course, more specs should be expected on the release date.

External Changes & Internal Review

While looking good is part of the Denali experience, many changes can be found in the cabin amenities. These features include dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, a trip computer, leather upholstery, unique chrome accents, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. Upgraded wood accents on the center console and door panels add even more attractive luxury to the cabin.

The most obvious is the bright grille juxtaposed with the red GMC lettering in terms of exterior changes, and this is where many of the changes wrapped up in the Denali trim can be found in terms of visual updates.

These include LED fog lights and tail lights, HID headlights and daytime running lights. The exterior color palette also includes additional paint colors. Standard exterior features include chrome-accented side steps and bumpers, mirror caps and door handles, spray-in bed liner, tow hooks and fog lights.

Release date and price

We expect pricing to start at around €34,000, although this is speculation as GMC has yet to announce pricing for the GMC Canyon Denali, but checking all the boxes could set you back a little over €41,900.

Regarding its release, sources familiar with Denali developments claim that the truck should be expected sometime in early .
