GMC Terrain 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The next-generation GMC Terrain project is coming this year. The model made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show this year as a model, which will continue to keep the car relevant in the market. The new-generation model is expected to be sleeker and have a stylish exterior that deviates from the old, boxy SUV style of the past.

They are also preparing new technologies, such as LED daytime running lights, HID headlights for the outside, and an updated infotainment system for the inside. Changes will also take place under the hood, where three different turbocharged four-bangers are available. But the best thing about the new GMC Terrain car is the use of the new D2XX architecture, which lowers the car’s curb weight and adds a stronger frame.

The first GMC Terrain was launched back in 2010 and was the smallest SUV vehicle that GM has introduced so far. It had a really peculiar size, so it was somewhere between a compact and a mid-size car in terms of its styling. It went six years without being updated when they finally decided to slightly refresh it in 2016. But even with the update, there were a lot of complaints about the vehicle, mostly related to the technology implemented for the vehicle. This is the part that prompted a quick turnaround with the new generation car.

The best part of the upgrade, however, has to be the framework. Nowadays, the type of framework for an SUV is the same as for regular cars. This could also be the last SUV to use a V-6 engine as a four-cylinder, which is becoming increasingly popular thanks to superior fuel economy.

The next-generation GMC Terrain is coming soon and we are here to cover it with our review and help you understand the recently released images of the car.

When is the GMC Terrain scheduled to be released?

The latest GMC Terrain has unveiled its new generation model at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. It was the first time we got to take a look at the car and see what it’s all about. But as it happens, the model will be released at the end of the year. The release date will be decided soon, but we are sure that the car will be on sale by then.

How much will the price be?

Although people have expected that the price of the GMC Terrain might drop since they are making it smaller compared to before, the prices will increase a little bit. This does not mean that we are getting a very expensive car now, but it is just a normal price bump that we get with any type of new generation model. The base MSRP price for the entry-level vehicle is $27,995. Prices increase with higher trim levels like the SLE-1 and SLE-2 at prices of $30,997 and $32,225. The SLT is €34,345 (Euro), the Denali up to €38,000 (Euro).

An updated look for the GMC Terrain

It seems that the designers have finally decided to update the styling of the GMC Terrain. The dated boxy design is no longer needed for use in this segment, so it was time to switch to a more modern style. Also gone are the square wheel arches, square grille and ugly exterior lights. The old version was not a geometrically flawless car, but we believe that the latest version has changed enough to get a completely new one. In fact, the entire front end is updated, starting with a redesigned hood that slopes downwards more than last time. It adds more curved lines, so it has a very muscular styling. The grille has a chrome surround and three chrome slats that further emphasize the sportiness of the car.

The side of the car has a sleeker and more refined look. There is a single but sharp body line that connects the headlights and the taillights. The lower part of the door is as smooth as the outgoing model. In the rear, the glass is shorter than the outgoing model, but it is just the right size to provide the driver with good visibility. The taillights are also drastically different, having a similar shape to the headlights. The hatch also serves as a place to keep a small lens where the reserve light is placed. However, they decided not to connect them with a chrome bar, which is better. Perhaps the only part that has been carried over unchanged is the exhaust, under which is positioned and shaped like last time.

Further changes inside

The interior of the GMC Terrain features as many changes inside as there are on the outside of the vehicle. In the new model, they only kept a few things the same, namely the semi-digital instrument cluster and the small TFT screen positioned between two primary gauges, but most of the interior is very different. As for new things, the most noticeable part is the design of the dashboard. It has a new layout that makes it flatter at the top, with a sharp drop on the passenger side. Interesting, but the dash sits maybe an inch lower than the surrounding trim.

The steering wheel is different as it is smaller than before. The side spokes are longer, adding more controls. It comes with a silver trim that matches the ones on the handles. One of the things we can quibble about is the inclusion of the FCA switch, which was confusing to use in some previous models. We believe the same problem could arise here, so using one here is not a good solution. The door panels, however, have wider armrests that are much more comfortable to use and provide a great interior feel.

Additional powertrain options for the GMC Terrain

For this new version of the GMC Terrain, they have decided not to offer a V-6 variant and offer us another choice of no less than three engine options. The entry-level is the 1.5-liter four-cylinder, while the 2.0-liter four-cylinder is the highest choice. The middle trim is the 1.6-liter diesel, which will also likely be the most fuel-efficient offering. The base engine offers 170 hp and 203 LB-FT, while the highest version has 252 hp and 260 LB-FT. The middle offers the least power at 137 hp and 240 LB-FT, but all three engines use a Hydra-Matic 9T45 nine-speed automatic transmission.

0-62 mph per hour and maximum speed

It seems that the acceleration capabilities of the GMC Terrain will not change that much. The model will still be able to reach 0-60 miles per hour in about 6.3 seconds and maintain its top speed of 118 miles per hour.

Will fuel consumption improve?

Unfortunately, fuel economy figures for the GMC Terrain are not official at this time. However, thanks to the improved engine choices, we hope the diesel variant will provide an economically viable option for all drivers looking to spend less on fuel. Projected fuel economy may be rated at 30 mpg highway and 40 mpg highway, which will put it close to rival models.

Some changes in dimensions

It seems that the latest version of the GMC Terrain will have a smaller size compared to the previous truck. A new generation needs some different specifications, so they have decided to make a size change that should bring a certain refresh to the car that will be very welcomed. It will have a length of 182.3 inches, a wheelbase of 107.3 inches, a width of 72.4 inches and a height of 65.4 inches.

Security settings

Although the official safety statistics for the GMC Terrain are not yet available, it is safe to say that they will be great. The car is equipped with new safety technology that takes into account some of the features of the car. Advanced and optional features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a surround-view camera system, active lane control, blind spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert, and a safety alert seat. Your standard equipment includes the airbags and a teen driving feature.

There are some competitors in the segment

The segment will not be so good for the GMC Terrain. They already lagged behind with the old design and updating it will improve it badly, but it will still be some time before the model comes back into contention. Although we predict better sales numbers with the Terrain, cars like the Infiniti QX50 and Lexus NX will continue to take center stage here.
