Hyundai Ioniq 7 2025: Price, review, specifications, picture.
The Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 will be followed by a new flagship model from Hyundai called the Hyundai Ioniq 7 in . During the launch of the Ioniq 5 in the US market, the company said that the Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV will be launched in , following the Ioniq 6 sedan in . Jose Munoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, confirmed at the launch of the Ioniq 5 that the Hyundai Ioniq 7 will be a three-row all-electric mid-size SUV.
Hyundai Ioniq7
When announcing the Ioniq brand for Hyundai’s future electric vehicles and its first lineup in August , Hyundai had revealed that the Ioniq 7 would be a large SUV. Like the other Ioniqs, it will use the new platform developed exclusively for Hyundai Motor Group ‘s next-generation electric vehicles – E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform). It underpins future Kia EVs (including the Kia EV6 ) and the first dedicated Genesis EV, the Genesis GV60 , which will launch globally this year.
review
The front of the Hyundai Ioniq 7 features a full-width light bar that runs on the parametric pixel LEDs. The high front end is different from the 5 & 6 models, which sit lower to the ground. This also creates a lot of storage space in the front area (“frunk”), as there is no need to accommodate an internal combustion engine.
The Hyundai Ioniq 7 will be unveiled as a concept first, and we’ve had a few glimpses of it. Each of the Hyundai Ioniq EVs has a completely different design. Readers see the concept version of the large SUV with a boxy body that gives it an upright stance and overall a very assertive character. There’s also a clamshell hood, a full-width LED daytime running light strip, and likely tall pixelated headlights with an L-shaped signature on the outer ends. The production version would be a three-row electric SUV (confirmed), likely with 6- and 7-seater seating options that offer best-in-class knee and headroom.
On the one hand, the designers have tried to make it a proper SUV with elements such as an upright face, a clamshell hood and a straight beltline. On the other hand, they have given it steeply raked A-pillars, a sloping roofline and a low height, which are the hallmarks of a modern crossover. It’s an interesting mix of old and new styles, but overall the Hyundai Ioniq 7 concept looks quite boxy, bordering more on the traditional SUV side.
Specifications
As Hyundai revealed during the Ioniq 6 launch ( reported by Autocoops ), the company plans to use a 100 kWh battery pack in the Ioniq 7 (EPA-estimated) that can deliver a range of 300 miles (483 km). Powertrain layout options include two-wheel and all-wheel drive, and the AWD configurations feature two motors that produce a net power of 230 kW (313 hp / 308 PS). The Ioniq 7 is expected to have a ground clearance of more than 8 inches.
Hyundai won’t be ready for mass production with a solid-state battery until 2027. However, the company plans to improve the energy density of its current lithium-ion battery cells from the early 600 Wh/L to the mid-700 Wh/L in . The Ioniq 7 would be among the first models to benefit from the new version of lithium-ion batteries, which will be sourced from SK Innovation – Hyundai’s partner for EV battery packs for over a decade.
On the charging side, the Ioniq 7, like the 5, will be able to fast charge at least 350 kW (800 V) thanks to the onboard system that supports 400 V and 800 V without additional adapters. In this setup, the 80 percent charge time is just 18 minutes, an experience similar to refueling.
Features
Back to the production Ioniq 7, hopes are high that Hyundai will equip the electric SUV with segment-first features, some of which are expected to be as follows:
Level 3 Autonomous Driving System
Hyundai’s autonomous driving technical roadmap confirms that hands-free autonomous driving will come next year with Level 3 “Highway Driving Pilot,” which will allow the driver to “drive by when alerted.” The Ioniq 7 should be a beneficiary of this feature.
Wireless charging
Thanks to a possible ground clearance of more than 20 inches, the Hyundai Ioniq 7 will have enough space under its floor for wireless charging via a transmitter unit. Hyundai has already confirmed that wireless charging is under development for models with the E-GMP platform. A pilot program with the Genesis GV60 in South Korea, starting next year, would decide on the further development of this technology.
Use of high-tech and recycled materials
The premium positioning of the Ioniq 7 could allow Hyundai to use high-tech materials for paint and trim that offer more functionality than aesthetics. According to a conversation between Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer, Hyundai and Autocar, the company is working on this technology, which could be functional by the middle of the decade. In addition, various parts inside the car, including seats, armrest, floor and door, can be made from eco-friendly recycled plastics, plant-based yarns (bio-PET) and natural wool yarns, bio-paint with plant extracts and synthetic leather with plant extracts.
Advanced infotainment system
The Hyundai Ioniq 7 is one of HMG’s upcoming cars, which will be launched from and will be equipped with a new connected car platform “NVIDIA DRIVE” in its infotainment systems. Using a hardware and software stack, the NVIDIA DRIVE can bring together audio, navigation and connected car services for a more optimized and advanced user experience in sync with Hyundai’s in-house connected car operating system (ccOS) via a digital cockpit.
Digital key
Apart from the current functions of unlocking and starting the vehicle via a smartphone application, Hyundai’s digital key for the Ioniq 7 could come with advanced features such as automatic unlocking of the vehicle that detects the user’s proximity after a certain period of time.
V2L (vehicle to charge)
This feature has already made its debut in the Ioniq 5 and will find its way into the Ioniq 7. This feature allows the electrical energy stored in the vehicle’s battery pack to be used to power devices and even the battery of other vehicles.
Visible roof
For the panoramic sunroof to be called a “view roof,” Hyundai may use a single large pane of glass without a cross member for an improved and wide view of the sky above.
Virtual mirrors
The Ioniq 7 comes with cameras mounted in place of traditional exterior rear-view mirrors. The rear view of the vehicle captured by the cameras in use is then displayed on screens mounted in the vehicle, either on the front door panels or on the corners of the dashboard.
Fingerprint reader
For biometric authentication, the Ioniq 7 could be equipped with a fingerprint reader, which is currently offered in the group’s offerings such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Genesis GV70.
Price Hyundai Ioniq 7
The Ioniq 7 is expected to have an entry-level price in the range of €42,200-46,400 (Euro) .
