The upcoming Hyundai Santa Cruz should arrive with more refreshments. As we wrote earlier, the model will arrive later next year. Sales will also begin in Europe. Santa Cruz will represent an affordable option in the mid-size segment. But what about the model?

According to the latest reports, this model will receive further updates and will certainly offer a diesel powertrain option. Whatever, diesel is the big news . The rest of the vehicles should mostly stay the same. This includes both the exterior and interior design. Finally, a four-door variant is rumored , so we’ll see if that really happens.
Design
Hyundai showed off its new design language on the Palisade SUV. It’s the first hint of what the Hyundai Santa Cruz might look like. The mid-size pickup borrows a lot of styling cues but looks unique and upright. Santa Cruz will look competitive and some parts look incredibly modern. The front end looks great, especially with the new grille design.
However, the model will show all the new design. The Santa Cruz should arrive with a little redesign. This includes slightly bigger exterior features, but the design will not be changed at all. The biggest mystery, however, is the four-door variant. It would be great to see something new, and the four-door version will surely increase sales.
What do we know about the Hyundai Santa Cruz cabin?
Inside, the new Hyundai Santa Cruz looks modern. The cabin is full of SUV-like cues, and again, the Palisade model is the first hint of what to expect. Of course, Santa Cruz offers far less luxury than the famous SUV. However, Hyundai will opt for a modern approach with many interesting features. We can’t say that the interior looks unique, but the level of comfort is admirable.
Remember, Santa Cruz is an affordable pickup truck, so we’re surprised by the luxury inside. Hyundai will deliver modern displays with a new infotainment system. Upper trim levels will offer leather upholstery, larger touchscreens and additional driver assistance features. When the four-door variant really arrives, there will be room for five passengers.
Engine specifications
The new Hyundai Santa Cruz offers a few powertrain options. Under the hood, the first option is a 2.5-liter gasoline engine. This engine works with a six-speed automatic transmission and offers a standard rear-wheel drive setup. On the other hand, Santa Cruz could borrow a 2.4-liter engine from the Hyundai Tucson pickup truck . This unit produces 182 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque.
The biggest news , however, will be a diesel powertrain. While we wait for Hyundai to officially announce a new diesel engine, this unit will offer higher torque and better fuel economy. The standard gasoline engine delivers around 27 mpg combined.
Price and release date
The price is not yet available, but many experts believe that the Hyundai Santa Cruz will cost around €20,000 (Euro). The goal is to offer an affordable option in the mid-size segment.
Santa Cruz is exactly that and it will be a real refresh for the segment. Sales will start sometime in , most likely in the second half of the year.
