Hyundai Sonata 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
Hyundai has announced its Hyundai Sonata model, which has undergone a massive styling change for next year. We probably wanted this to happen, but to be honest, the current car didn’t look that bad.
Hyundai Sonata
But sales were falling and down compared to last season. Hyundai decided something had to be done and they tackled the matter in the only way possible and heavily redesigned the car.
Hyundai was once known as a company that released fairly cheap and economical cars. Their earlier vehicles were mainly models that were designed to be both efficient and cheap. Many people would look at these models as they are both reliable and affordable. But as time went on, Hyundai started to grow and more luxurious cars came out. The title vehicles that are emerging are the ones we see in the market now. One of these is the Sonata model, which took that premise and still managed to attract the audience.
The Hyundai Sonata has entered its seventh generation model year with the current modeling debuting in 2015. They adapted to combining elements from the HCD 14 concept car and also took elements from their Genesis model. The result was quite clever and the vehicle that came out of it is quite great. However, the sales figures did not reflect this as they dropped compared to the previous generation car. Hyundai decided to prepare another model. If you haven’t seen it in the pictures yet, you can find it here.
They call the design language Fluidic Sculpture Design and it will change the Hyundai Sonata for the better. We noticed changes in the exterior and interior as the technology is also updated. As for the powertrain, it will be kept similar but the suspension has received more attention this time.
The fact remains if the Hyundai Sonata has done enough to change the car and give it the tools it needs to gain momentum in the segment, the release date is getting closer, so check out our review and find out.
When is the release date of the Hyundai Sonata set?
Now when people know that the updated Hyundai Sonata exists, they are more interested in knowing when the car will be released. The vehicle is in full swing and already designed so you won’t have to wait much longer than you think. The first release date will be in the middle of the year in the designers’ home country. After that, the vehicle will spread out and be available for all other markets. People in the Europe who are excited to get this vehicle will get it before . This is great news, but the release date is not officially set yet and we expect it to be somewhere for the third quarter of or at least by the end of the year. All in all, we are patiently waiting for it to come out and can’t wait to try it.
The price is already set
The new Hyundai Sonata has undergone many changes and is more than people expected. This also drew attention to the price of the car as many thought it would also tamper with it and make it much larger and not as affordable as you would hope. But the matter of price is actually more complicated. Some trim levels of the Sonata have actually gone up, but some are offered at a cheaper price than before. All in all, it’s not too much of a change than you would expect and the model is likely to sell well. The price list has already been announced, so the SE starting trim will cost $22,050, the Eco $22,650, the SEL $23,700, the Limited $27,400 and the Sport trim $25,200, the higher Sport 2.
Exterior view made as a design should be
With the Hyundai Sonata, we see a complete redesign of the car we had last time. Hyundai has actually shown us how redesigning should be done, and all other automakers that just provide minor updates and call it redesigning should learn from it. It has been dramatically redesigned and shows us how a vehicle should look and how well it can now perform with the new design.
The most dramatic change is made to the front part of the car, which is now more aggressive than before. The nose is sleeker and longer, taking elements carried over from the Veloster and Tuscon cars. It makes the car look longer and shapes it appropriately, keeping it in balance with the vehicle’s proportions and dimensions. Added to this are sharp corner vents and LED running lights. The bumper is also new, and the air dams are smaller than the last version. The character liens on the bumper are also some new elements that we like.
The profile of the car has remained the same. It will be the last time, with the only change being the slightly updated side skirts of the vehicle. The car will ride on some 18-inch wheels, which have also been slightly revised. But the changes to the back are much more significant and visible. The fascia is completely new and also brings a lot of character. The license plate has been moved down a bit and now has more space for the logo. The old bubble-like taillights are also replaced with some premium taillights. They are now much sleeker and add a lot of elegance than you would initially think.
What happens inside the Hyundai Sonata?
As for the interior of the Hyundai Sonata, it is very similar in terms of design. Unless you are a real expert and don’t go into details, it is difficult to see the differences. This is not a bad thing at all, as they decided to take more chances on the outside of the car this time and kept the part that didn’t need so many updates to begin with. The minor changes you can see are some little things that were done to the instrument cluster with an additional definition ring and where part of the instrument cluster hangs out a bit, making it look longer.
The three-spoke steering wheel has also been slightly revised and features a black trim with new buttons. In addition, the position of the controls directly below the steering wheel is also revised, as the layout differs with new buttons and knobs. The gauges also get a new design and the HVAC controls are repositioned, leaving more room for the USB ports and 12-volt access ports. Finally, the panoramic sunroof is offered as an option and a number of smartphone integration options are available.
Powertrain offering for the Hyundai Sonata
The engines will remain unchanged for the Hyundai Sonata. This is still the seventh generation of the famous Sonata car, so they decided to simply transfer the lot and give a small refresh for the output of certain offers. We actually didn’t expect it at all, but the engines were still the best part of the previous model.
The starting engine is the 2.4-liter four-cylinder that has an output of 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet from designing and is found in the SE, Sport and Limited versions. The 2.0-liter turbocharged is used only for the top models like the Sport 2.0t and the Limited 2.0t and can give us an output of 245 horses and 260 pound-feet of twist. The third choice is the 1.6 -liter engine that is used only in the Eco variant and has an output of 178 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. However, since the engines were not changed, they did more with the suspension system as it now offers better handling and this time provides more ride comfort for the car.
0-62 mph per hour and maximum speed
Since there are almost no changes for the Hyundai Sonata engine range, the acceleration time and top speed are mostly the same. The car takes about 6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour and the top speed is still around 130 mph. These are still pretty good numbers for the model and they give us great specifications.
Fuel consumption figures for the Hyundai Sonata
The fuel rating for the Hyundai Sonata is also the same as last time. Depending on the trim level you choose and the engine with the specs, the specs will differ, but it’s essentially the same setup as last time. The SE has 25/36/29 mpg, the Eco 28/36/31 mpg, the Sport 25/35/28 mpg, the Sport 2.0T gets 22/31/26 mpg, the Limited 25/35/28, and the Limited 2.0T has an EPA rating of 21/30/24 mpg.
Size and dimensions of the car
With all the updates to the Hyundai Sonata, we needed some stability and a part that could vary from the previous model. Well, the things they decided to do were the size and dimensions of the car. Since they opted for a more aesthetic approach and made changes that mainly update the external appearance and functionality from the inside, the dimensions have been kept as they were when the car debuted in 2015. The size of the car remains the same as 191.14 inches of overall length, the width is 73.42 inches and the height is 58.07 inches and the wheelbase is 110.43 inches. As for the interior, the car is still able to offer pretty decent interior volume numbers. The rear part of the car is particularly good as it has 40.4 inches of headroom, 45.5 inches of legroom and 57.9 inches of shoulder room and 55.3 inches of hip room . It is more than enough for the people in the background to feel satisfied with this.
Safety equipment largely the same
The safety of the Hyundai Sonata has been addressed a bit with some fine new additions, but the overall score will still remain pretty similar. As for your starting equipment, the dual front, side and curtain airbags, as well as the driver’s knee airbags, the lot is pretty similar. It’s also important to add that the car still uses stability management, ABS system, traction control, TPMS, BA and brake force distribution. Upgrades offered for this year include blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert as standard. Optional equipment includes lane departure warning and lane keeping assist feature. All of this makes the Hyundai Sonata safe in the normal way.
Competitors and other vehicles
One of the main reasons for the Hyundai Sonata facelift was the falling sales figures. The launch 7 th generation car did not make the estimated sales quota. It is still not clear if it was the car’s fault or if the competition brought a better offer that the Sonata could not handle. However, the new model still has to face a large number of cars that can be found in the given segment. It will ultimately prove if the car has what it needs to actually make it here and if it is enough to satisfy the audience. The models that will be direct competitors here are cars like the Honda Accord , which was also recently updated, and the Chevy Malibu , which introduced a new design that went on sale in 2016. Other notable and established vehicles that could be interesting to see as an alternative are certainly the Toyota Camry and the Ford Fusion Active car.
