Hyundai Terracan 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The situation in the automotive market today is very specific. On one hand, we have the fast-growing crossover market, which is bigger than ever. But we also have a not-so-small group of true SUV enthusiasts who appreciate the good old ladder frame designs. So it’s no wonder that models like the Toyota 4Runner are more popular than ever, while Ford has brought back the legendary Bronco . Hyundai could do the same as Ford if we trust the latest reports and bring back the Terracan. Supposedly, the new model could come as early as , like the Hyundai Terracan.

At this point, this is just a rumor, but a rumor that is getting louder every day. If it arrives, we have no doubt that it would use the same design approach as the original model that was in production in the first decade of this century. However, this time, Hyundai would design the entire model in-house.

Redesign

If you’re old enough to remember the original Terracan, you probably know that this is a true BoF SUV, which was quite atypical for a company that relies more on passenger cars and crossovers. Logically, Hyundai didn’t have the time and energy to develop its own platform, so the solution came from Japan. This model was largely based on the Mitsubishi Pajero. It has the same ladder chassis, but we can’t say it was a complete clone of the legendary off-roader. Instead, Hyundai installed its own engines, offered completely new styling and interior design.

This time, Hyundai would probably have to do everything itself. Mitsubishi no longer produces true SUVs, while at the moment we don’t think anyone else would want to share the technology with Hyundai. Therefore, most reports suggest that the Korean manufacturer will produce its own BoF chassis, which will eventually be used for a new pickup truck as well.

Design

When it comes to exterior design, the first thing that comes to mind is size. What we expect are dimensions that are typical for a mid-size segment. We assume that the 4Runner would serve as inspiration, considering the popularity of Toyota SUVs. So the dimensions would be similar, as would the overall exterior design.

This would mean a fairly rugged appearance with the obvious focus on off-road performance. After all, the rendering photos also show a design heavily influenced by the Japanese off-roader. Of course, Hyundai would put its own stamp on it and we would see an implementation of the brand’s latest design language, with the front using similar headlights to those on Kona . The rest of the body would come in typical SUV fashion, with high ground clearance, massive tires, good approach and departure angles, etc.

Inner

When it comes to interior design, it’s too early to talk about anything more specific. On the other hand, we could speculate about the overall layout. As you probably know, a typical BoF SUV buyer doesn’t see these models as family haulers, so the third row isn’t a priority. So, we expect the standard models to come with two rows of seats, while the third will be offered as an option and probably won’t be too spacious. On the other hand, the cargo space would definitely have to offer respectable numbers. We expect something between 80 and 90 cubic feet would be fine.

We also don’t expect the dashboard to look as stylish as in the new Santa Fe or Palisade . Instead, we’d rather see more plastics and fewer soft-touch materials, which would improve durability and overall functionality. Still, we’re counting on a fine amount of tech extras and other features, while some high-end trim levels could even look quite luxurious.

Hyundai Terracan Engine

Given the SUV’s ruggedness, we don’t expect that potential buyers would be primarily concerned with reliability. Therefore, we don’t see a Hyundai Terracan with a turbo engine. Instead, we’re pretty sure it would come with a 3.8-liter V6 powering the Palisade. This engine produces around 290 horsepower and seems to be a perfect fit for a vehicle of this size and weight. Additionally, we expect this engine would also use the same 8-speed automatic transmission.

If we assume that the new Hyundai Terracan will be offered in different parts of the world, there is no reason why we would not see a diesel version on offer as well. This engine would be offered in markets like Europe, Australia, etc.

Despite reports suggesting its arrival as early as next year, the Hyundai Terracan is still just a rumor and officials are keeping quiet. If it does arrive one day, we expect base models to be around €29,000 (Euros).
