Infiniti QX70 2025: The return of the iconic SUV in a new guise

It didn’t take long for the bosses of Nissan and Infiniti to realize a mistake. Well, we can call it a mistake, because the Infiniti QX70 is about to return. On the other hand, forget about the old SUV. It was discontinued because the investment in its makeover would be huge. Now the QX70 is starting the next chapter, the completely new side of its future. The nameplate is coming back, with fresh styling and powertrains.

SUV Infiniti QX70

The Infiniti QX70 will be the next coupe-SUV. The Japanese company debuted in this segment with the QX55 , the crossover based on the QX50 . There is no doubt which platform will underpin the QX70. It sits between the QX60 and QX80 , two brand new models. Both use the Monograph architecture and it seems to be a perfect complement to the all-new QX70.

What is the Infiniti QX70?

Infiniti has made a strong move with the launch of the QX55. This is the coupe-crossover known primarily to German automakers. The new vehicle will compete with BMW X4 , Mercedes GLC Coupe and Porsche Macan . But the Japanese company is about to enter another business – the SUV class. The Infiniti QX70 is supposed to be a competitor to BMW X6 and Porsche Cayenne . Not a bad idea, but the market is somehow limited for such vehicles. When comparing models with standard chassis and coupes, you have to sacrifice seating capacity and cargo space. Gains are a sportier appearance and better performance.

The QX70 will not beat the sales figures of the QX60 and QX80. But the arrival will announce the presence of the Infiniti and the ambitions of the company’s owners. We haven’t seen a major move for a few years. And then the fans of Nissan and its premium branch will get a lot of new additions. The QX70 is just a rumor for now, but we can expect announcements soon

Specifications, Engines, Hybrid

A V6 seems to be the perfect powertrain for the Infiniti QX70. A 3.5-liter displacement is good for 295 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. That’s the same unit we find under the hood of the QX60. A CVT transmission sends power to the front wheels. Towing capacity is said to be modified from the SUV with standard suspension. Optional all-wheel drive may be an upgrade. The coupe styling will improve airflow and gas mileage. So the QX70 could shed about 30 mpg on the highway and 25-26 mpg combined.

To be competitive in the coupe-SUV segment, the Infiniti QX70 needs a more powerful, high-end version. A 400-horsepower V6 turbo engine is a good alternative. Infiniti will not chase BMW M and Mercedes AMG models with more than 500 horsepower. Instead, the Japanese automaker will turn to a more efficient ride. A hybrid configuration can improve power output and gas mileage. However, such a setup will not deliver more than 350 ponies.

Versions

Pure is the entry-level model for most Infiniti vehicles. The Infiniti QX70 could start the lineup from that point. However, there are no details on the overall lineup. The SUV will certainly offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the touchscreen display is the center of the infotainment system. The upper trim levels can be Luxe and Sensory, with heated front seats, advanced safety options with a blind spot monitor, and larger wheels. The top trim is Premium and for the QX70, it can also be a hybrid. There will also be various upgrades available to add. These are unique wheels, 4×4 drive, premium audio.

Price Infiniti QX70

Since it is positioned between the QX60 and QX80, the company will set the price of the Infiniti QX70 in the same range. Therefore, we can expect it to cost around $60,000. In addition, there are other options, such as the Performance and Hybrid versions. In this case, buyers will have to add at least €8500 (Euro) for such add-ons, and the fully equipped QX70 will cost around €60000 (Euro).
