Jeep Grand Cherokee 2025: New Level of Power and Style

The latest confirmed rumors we have are not good for the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s marketing department. We’ll have to wait a little longer to see it before the release. FCA doesn’t want to jeopardize the spotlight it currently has the new Dodge Challenger Demon under and will unveil it at the New York Auto Show in April 2017.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

We only waited for this year’s release because we are tired of the old design that has not been changed since 2011 and the beginning of the fourth generation. That and those rumors about the powerful 700-horsepower engine that comes directly from the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The version of the Jeep Cherokee that will borrow this engine is called the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and you should make a distinction between the new most powerful Cherokee ever and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, which is the name of the trim level of the 2017 model.

When is the Jeep Grand Cherokee release date?

We don’t expect the Jeep Grand Cherokee release date to be pushed back any further. It will be released in summer or fall . The exclusion of this model from the ongoing auto show plans has nothing to do with the release date. We will get the 700 hp Cherokee, don’t worry.

What is the Jeep Grand Cherokee price?

There is no official news about the price of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but since this will be the most powerful model on the market, you should expect no less than €80,000. Just for comparison purposes, the 2017 Grand Cherokee starts at €30,000. Grand Cherokee SRT starts at €66,900; 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk costs around $43,100.

Is there anything new on the Jeep Grand Cherokee exterior?

The same design that permeates the entire fourth generation is, of course, present in the Jeep Grand Cherokee exterior . There are changes in the trims, but the basic design is there. You can change the suspension, grille, headlights and taillights, side skirts and spoilers, but there are no major changes.

The grille is therefore larger because you need more airflow to cool the engine. The headlights will be very narrow but won’t cause any problems with road lighting. The front tow hooks will remain, like on any other off-road vehicle. For the Trackhawk variant, we expect an even larger air intake to replace those small openings around the fog lights and even a larger grille. The Hellcats V8s will need additional cooling.

According to some spy shots, the size of the cabin will not change, but the angle of the windshield could go down a bit to confirm the aerodynamics and menacing styling. The other thing that will probably change is the number of wheels and their size. Since this is a Jeep, the underbody protection will be standard in the off-road trim levels and offered as an option in the others.

Safety add-ons will be more extensive for adaptive cruise control, radar sensors on bumpers, automatic parking and more. As seen in some test drives along with the training sessions, there will be an optional panoramic roof on higher trim levels.

What about the interior?

The interior of the Jeep Grand Cherokee will probably be refreshed. The last model did not have connectivity options for modern phones, the dashboard is already very old, and although the upholstery is of high quality, some things can be changed. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will certainly receive some new details that will be brought to the level of sports design. Some rumors that were already circulating pointed to the need for the Hellcat insignia. We do not see the need for it, since this is the hallmark of the Dodge, but why not?

The seating layout will remain the same. There will be two rows of seats for five people. The storage area will probably remain the same. The trunk will have 782 liters which will increase with the rear seats folded down. And if we consider the hidden compartment under the floor, you will get the larger space than the BMW X5 .

Engine specifications

As with any other model, the Cherokee will be available in several versions. There are rumors of the updated 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine as a standard offering. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel (which has the best mpg ratings) will remain for diesel variants. The third will most likely be the good old 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and the Grand Cherokee SRT with 6.4-liter Hemi V8.

The one special edition we’re all waiting for is the most powerful model of all – the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. This will use the “almighty” Hellcat under the hood, bringing all 700 horses with it. The engine will be the 6.2-liter V8, tamed by the Hellcat’s standard eight-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel economy will have some decent numbers and we don’t think it will be any different from last year’s models.
