Jeep Wrangler 2025: Classic SUV Expected Update and New Engines.

This Jeep Wrangler would be next in line for one of the most famous SUVs out there. I said “would be” because we just got a report that Fiat Chrysler hasn’t decided on a release date for this vehicle. The model was originally scheduled for late next year.

Jeep Wrangler

Jeep Wrangler is now in its third generation. It has been developed since 1986 and from the very beginning it was a different kind of SUV. This is due to its design parameters. It has a separate body and frame, rigid solid axles – both front and rear, a folding windshield and a characteristic ban on driving without doors. The suspension, engine and some interior cues were borrowed from the “Cherokee”.

What’s so interesting?

The first thought that comes to mind right after you first look at the vehicle (even the latest version) is WWII. Just look at the grille and headlights. Just paint the car olive green and put a white star on the hood and there you have the WWII Jeep. Ask anyone what a Jeep from any part of the world is and he (or she) will describe the Wrangler.

Much ado about nothing

Sometime in May, a few spy shots appeared on the internet. These photos had a brand new Jeep Wrangler, which immediately sparked some stories and rumors. The prediction was that we will get the new version of this “next generation” Jeep Wrangler in the middle of next year.

All previous rumors were made by some people who saw what appeared to be the “skin” of the Jeep Wrangler. It was always something unconventional, and this was the first time we had the opportunity to see the all-new design for the Jeep Wrangler.

The entire body was covered by the cloth and one could only see the outlines that were revealed by the mild breeze. And that was none other than Jeep Wrangler .

Exterior design

It was impossible to see if Fiat-Chrysler managed to implement the aluminum in the construction of the new Jeep Wrangler exterior . That was the idea, since they need to reduce fuel consumption as much as possible. The same goes for the folding windshield. The unusual camouflage was too good for us to determine a specific detail other than the shape.

Despite the lack of information, we are very optimistic about the solid front and rear axles, body-on-frame construction and all-wheel drive. Weight reduction is another concern, and the company could have faked the entire rear section of the vehicle to hide the pickup version of the Wrangler.

Some of the signature details like round headlights and a seven-slot grille will surely see some minor changes. These modifications like LED headlights, LED light bars on the leading edge of the front fender and X-design taillights will resemble the design of a “Renegade”. We also hope to see the two-door version and the four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited version.

Some “technical” details

Don’t expect anyone to make the Jeep Wrangler an aerodynamic masterpiece. I will always remain the same design with some major changes in the strength of the materials. Removable doors will of course be… removed first (except in some cases when buyers insist on this detail).

Designers will likely bend the grille slightly at the top and remove the folding windshield. Engineers could replace the safety bar with stronger beams or tubes and reduce the additional reinforcement of the lower body. The fixed (normal) roof version could also be available.

One of the sources even claimed that we can no longer see a top and a sports bar. In addition, the taillight, bumpers and tailgate designs will also change. All to make this SUV as light as possible.

LA Auto Show Rumors

During the LA Auto Show, the Jeep CEO reflected on some of the rumors. In his statement, he said that we can see the new Jeep Trackhawk during the New York International Auto Show next April and that we will have the honor of testing the Jeep Wrangler. We will, but not in early 2017 as we first thought, but sometime towards the end of 2017. It will practically go from Jeep Wrangler to the model for 2019. In addition, the CEO confirmed the release of the pickup version, but for the middle of .

What are the rumors for Jeep Wrangler engine

Except for the new design of the Jeep Wrangler, we expect some changes in the engine lineup. It will reportedly have 3 options:

  • 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower. It’s called Hurricane. It will have a twin-scroll turbocharger and variable valve timing.
  • 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 engine with 285 hp
  • 3.0 litre V6 EcoDiesel engine

That kind of power, combined with a six-speed manual or the eight-speed automatic transmission and the super-lightweight aluminum construction, should yield some really good EPA ratings.

Interior

There is not much to say about the interior design of the Jeep Wrangler, except for the one patent for the new rear window. Not many people want to keep the rear window open while driving through mud and rain. But there are some, and they will now have another design to rely on. The prototype is a rear window that can be folded and attached to the roof surface. This is the only way it stays out of the way of the rear tire and can be in a safe position.

The upper trim levels come with some advanced features like remote start, leather seats, power mirrors, power windows and power door locks. The leather-wrapped steering wheel of the new Jeep Wrangler comes with the trim, along with all the steering wheel controls and possibly the silver trim. Infotainment can be upgraded with a large touchscreen in the center of the dashboard.
Heated leather seats, automatic climate control, USB ports, hidden compartments and 60/40 split folding rear seats provide the utmost comfort regardless of the external climate conditions.
