Kia EV9 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
A Kia EV9 reveal is on the horizon, with the South Korean automaker confirming it will show a new concept on November 11. This large electric SUV could sit alongside, or even replace, the Kia Sorento and the even larger Telluride (not sold in the UK) as the company’s seven-seat flagship.
Kia EV9 SUV
This new teaser of the Kia EV9 clearly shows a boxy silhouette similar to the current Sorento SUV. It matches up nicely with an earlier teaser of the EV9 unveiled by Kia (above), which gives you an even better idea of this SUV’s imposing size. Expect this seven-seater to borrow design details from the smaller Kia EV6 (see Mat’s video review above), including its sleek, aggressive headlights and wide taillights.
Interior and infotainment
One thing that is almost certain about the interior of the Kia EV9 is that it is a seven-seater, putting it in the same category as the current hybrid and diesel-powered Kia Sorento.
A flat interior floor thanks to the electric gubbins fitted beneath the passenger compartment should also provide plenty of space in the new Kia EV9. Expect to take inspiration from the EV6 in terms of the dashboard layout, meaning you can rely more on the central infotainment system for a number of the car’s controls.
Batteries and motors
No word yet on what powers the Kia EV9, but again, it could borrow a lot from the existing EV6. If so, it could use a 77.4 kWh battery, which should provide a range of nearly 300 miles. That will likely power a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, but don’t expect the same crazy 585 hp as the Kia EV6 GT. That said, 325 hp (like you get in mid-range EV6 models) should be plenty.
Design
The EV9 is very angular, distinctive and confident. Actually a bit rough, but that is intentional, because the EV9 wants to show that it is always ready for adventure. It is intended to serve as a leisure vehicle and thus be suitable for a large family in everyday life. The design can also be said to be based on the manufacturer’s new design philosophy “Bold for Nature”.
The element of water in particular served as inspiration for the designers. The floor is made of recycled fishing nets and the seat covers are made of recycled plastic bottles and wool fibers. The interior is also made of vegan leather – Kia wants to gradually reduce the use of animal leather in all vehicles.
So they were inspired by nature, which you can see in some elements. For example, there is the optically low center of gravity and the sharply cut fenders, which are inspired by the shape of crystals. They are positioned high and stand out even more in the side view due to the low center of gravity. This gives the EV9 a particularly powerful appearance.
But the EV9 also has a softer side – the interior. You can find more information about this below. But what needs to be said about the looks: the powerful presence and the stable, almost rocky geometry make the EV9 seem strong and irrefutable.
Price and release date
A concept version of the Kia EV9 will be seen on November 11. In addition, a production car could be unveiled in late with an eye on going on sale in early .
However, expect it to cost significantly more than a €52,000 plug-in hybrid Kia Sorento or a €60,000 top-of-the-range EV6.
