Design

In addition, the license plate will move to the rear bumper. It is worth mentioning that this new model will have more details in common with its brother Genesis G90 , which also received some important changes.

Likewise, the vehicle will include tailpipes that are slightly larger and have a slightly modified shape. It is important to mention that the designers took into account the new Kia logo when illustrating it.

Technical characteristics

In Korea, the powertrain range of the new Kia K9 includes a 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine with 315 hp and a V6 3.3 T-GDI biturbo engine with 370 hp. The engines will work together with the classic 8-speed automatic transmission. The drive can be either rear-wheel drive or full-wheel drive.

The car’s standard equipment includes a second-level autonomous driving system (like Tesla), warning and collision avoidance functions, and the prediction of gear changes in automatic transmissions while driving in traffic.

Interior

When it comes to buying an upscale South Korean sedan, customers are spoiled for choice. Other than the obvious standalone luxury brand Genesis, parent company Hyundai has the Grandeur, which will move to the next generation in and will reportedly stretch over five meters (almost 197 inches). After a partial reveal a few weeks ago, Kia’s range-topper is making headlines again by showing off its slightly tweaked interior for the first time. It ditches the previous 12.3-inch infotainment to make room for a larger 14.5-inch setup, which is exactly the same diagonal you’ll find in some Genesis models.

Already implemented by Genesis and Hyundai, a fingerprint authentication system debuts in the KDM specification K9 and enables the ability to create multiple personalized profiles. The car automatically changes the seat position and climate control settings once the fingerprint is recognized.

In addition, the position of the side mirrors will change to the pre-programmed position, while the digital instrument cluster will also change to the driver’s preferred arrangement. Payment via the infotainment system will also be possible using the fingerprint, without the need for a separate card.

Over-the-air updates are now supported by the K9, bringing improvements to the screens and even the head-up display. A smartphone app allows owners to remotely unlock and start the car and check the surroundings. An expanded range of safety and driver assistance systems is now available for Kia’s flagship, including predictive gear shifting based on information from radar and cameras.

The Kia K9 will be launched in mid- at prices ranging from just over 44,000 euros for the base version to 58,500 euros for the top trim without options.
