Kia Seltos 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The Kia Seltos is the Korean automaker’s latest SUV. Surprisingly, the manufacturer brought this subcompact vehicle while everyone was talking about its new Telluride and a possible pickup truck. Nevertheless, the new Seltos is a pretty important member of the team, as we see that some upcoming models will find inspiration for a redesign in this mini-crossover.
SUV Seltos
The Kia Seltos is already available for purchase. You can build the vehicle on the official website and it offers five trim levels. The unique “First Edition” is not available, but there are still a few cool packages. There are also two power levels. The powerful turbo-four unit, however, only comes with the S or SX trims. The hybrid unit could appear after the season, though.
First impressions are positive. The new Seltos offers an excellent combination of performance and mileage. Safety is pretty high right out of the box and AWD is standard on many configurations. On the other hand, the entry-level LX is not worth considering as it is very poorly equipped. The rear seat and cargo area offer plenty of space and Kia offers the best warranty on the market. However, since the crossover is new, the resale value is questionable at this point.
Engines
The base offering for the new Seltos starts with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine. It’s not too much fun if you’re looking for a powerful unit. However, for the subcompact class, 146 hp and 132 lb-ft are slightly above average. The engine is paired with a CVT automatic transmission and delivers 29/35 mpg. All-wheel drive is optional and comes with significantly lower fuel economy – 27/31 mpg. However, the AWD will offer an IRS that will improve the handling and durability of this model. Plus, the crossover can experience some off-road adventures.
The optional engine is a 1.6-liter turbocharged unit with 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. It’s available with the two high-end versions and all-wheel drive. This makes Seltos consume more fuel – 25 miles per gallon in the city and 30 mpg on the open road. The company pairs the engine with a seven-speed DCT transmission and doesn’t require premium fuel. Efficiency is boosted by a start/stop system, which can be annoying for some, and you can turn it off.
Diesel engines are available in other markets
The new subcompact crossover will also be launched in the rest of the world. This means that diesel engines will be part of the lineup. The vehicle will use 1.5 and 1.6 displacement. However, these editions will not come to Europe. There is also a lighter gasoline unit – a 1.4-liter displacement with 140 hp. Diesel units produce 115 and 136 hp.
Five equipment variants
Let’s try to figure out which Kia Seltos is the best. The base trim is LX and will not impress you with what it offers. Still, the package has its highlights like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto availability, huge touchscreen display and 17-inch wheels. A 2.0-liter engine is the only option for the LX and EX models, while the Seltos S is the mid-range offering that also comes with an optional turbocharger. The S package adds many safety equipment to the base model that costs extra on the LX. For example, buyers on LDW, LKA and LFA get emergency braking and lane departure warning systems. Also, the interior surfaces are covered with synthetic leather combined with a cloth.
The EX is the top-of-the-line version, with a 2.0-liter powerplant. Everything is on another, higher level. Safety is enhanced with blind-spot monitors, the synthetic leather upholstery is replaced with Sofino leather, and the front buckets get heating options and power adjustment systems. The sunroof is another cool upgrade. The SX ups the performance and infotainment system. Instead of an 8-inch screen, there’s a 10-inch display, while Bose provides premium audio with more speakers. LED lamps and fog lights are standard. This is definitely the best model, but also the most expensive.
Kia Seltos Price
The automaker made the subcompact crossover available on the Asian market. The initial success makes Kia more ambitious. The best sales are achieved at home and in India. Australian buyers also found this model very interesting, while the Seltos arrived on the Chinese market at the end of 2019. The US edition has debuted and we will see that the offer starts at € 22,000 (euro). At the same price you will find the S package. However, if you want to upgrade it with a turbo engine and all-wheel drive, you will have to spend $ 2,500 more, which is not a bad option. The most expensive edition with a gasoline engine costs € 25,300 (euro) before the finish, while the turbocharged SX reaches € 28,000 (euro). Optional features can increase the price by $ 2,500 for the special sunroof package, ambient lighting and some other protective elements.
