Kia Soul EV 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
Choosing to drive a Kia Soul says a lot about a person, as its unconventional, stylized toaster design and catchy advertising campaign—featuring hamsters bouncing to dance music—give it a certain whimsy.
Kia Soul EV
While it’s true that the Soul looks like no other on the road, its boxy body hides a particularly practical interior that offers plenty of room for people and cargo despite its small footprint. It’s also a great value, with a price tag that starts thousands less than rivals like the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Jeep Renegade and Kia Seltos.
It’s not the most exciting car to drive, and its 147-horsepower four-cylinder is mated only to a continuously variable automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, but the Soul offers a compliant ride and several virtues that make it pleasant to live with.
What’s new ?
Kia’s boxy small SUV Soul gets a mild makeover with a new grille and new bumper designs. The headlights have been reshaped and there are also new 17- and 18-inch wheel choices. Unfortunately, the spunky 201-hp 1.6-liter turbo engine has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the 147-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder as the only engine. The rugged-looking X-Line model has also been discontinued.
We like the GT-Line model, which offers a different take on the Soul’s quirky styling. It looks sportier than its stablemates, with its own wheel design and body-coloured trim. It comes standard with a range of driver assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
BATTERY
The new Soul EV features a new state-of-the-art liquid-cooled lithium-ion polymer 64 kWh battery pack that is expected to require fewer daily charges, and Combined Charging System (CCS) direct current fast charging as standard equipment, so refilling the batteries should be short, so the road trip fun can easily continue even after a short break.
Performance
The Soul EV has always been a bit like a magic carpet, whizzing along silently with seemingly effortless pull. Now with 201 horsepower and 291 lb.-ft. of torque (up from 210 lb.-ft. in the outgoing model), drivers feel like a virtual Aladdin. Handling and driving dynamics are also significantly improved thanks to the independent rear suspension.
The new Soul EV also offers numerous tools to help drivers customize their driving experience and battery usage, including:
Four driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport and Eco+ – that automatically adjust traction motor output, regenerative braking, air conditioning and heating settings, and set speed limits to control operating efficiency3 depending on driving conditions
Intelligent regenerative braking via paddle shifters gives the driver the ability to slow the car down and capture kinetic energy, creating additional driving range The driver can choose between four regenerative braking levels (0 to 3) depending on the desired level of smoothness, driving enjoyment and efficiency
The brake and hold system function allows the paddle shifter to bring the car to a stop4
The Smart Regen System adjusts the regenerative braking level based on a vehicle detected in front of the Soul EV, providing smoother idling, especially when descending a steep road5 The
Smart Eco Pedal Guide display on the instrument cluster informs the driver of the real-time battery consumption based on the accelerator pedal input
EQUIPMENT
