Lexus NX 2025: A modern crossover with improved luxury and dynamic characteristics

A refresh of the Lexus NX brings out some good applications for the car. Great design and a turbocharged powertrain are just the openers for the NX model, but Lexus has made this car a very luxurious and family-oriented vehicle, making this crossover model one of the most well-rounded models on the market.

Lexus NX

The Lexus NX is the first compact crossover vehicle that the brand has introduced. This refresh will not offer so much to the car as it is still young. Most of the design remains the same. This is also the first commercial vehicle to receive the style of the Lexus design language, which later became a staple of the Lexus vehicle line.

The model will soon make its debut and we can finally get more than just the pictures of the car. An update was not really expected so soon as the car has only been on the market for two years, but in a busy segment like the compact crossover, you have to keep up.

When is the possible release date of the Lexus NX?

The updated version of the Lexus NX is expected to be available by the end of the year. People will be able to order and buy this car as early as , as the release date will not wait for next year. We look forward to this model being launched in a big way.

What could the price be?

The price of the Lexus NX has not been officially announced yet, but we don’t expect a sharp increase. It seems that we are looking at a similar price to the $36,260 of the current model. We are happy to say that the price is cheap.

A striking design language

The Lexus NX car will continue to feature the striking language design of the previous model. Before this design was introduced, there wasn’t much going on for Lexus models overall, but when the NX came out, it quickly changed the face of Lexus. The design of the car is quite appealing and manages to combine sharp creases and pointed shapes and create a fastback car, resulting in a great crossover utility vehicle.

The latest version retains most of its original styling, with only updates here and there. There will be sharp articulation angles from the base to the rear. There is also a deep depression in the door that creates an asymmetrical sill in the bottom of the door. The front end still has the signature Lexus spindle grille and is combined with a gently rising hood that extends beyond it. On the sides are some swept-back headlights with L-shaped LED daytime running lights.

A bit like a descent from the inside

The interior of the Lexus NX actually looks a little different in its design. It is actually much toned down compared to the outside of the car. The colors and materials feature a common Lexus design and palette that features dark grays, muted silvers, and matte wood grain. The metallic accents contrast nicely with the softly trimmed upholstery, which also complements the large gauges.

The dashboard design is still long and angled, with a protruding console that forms a Z shape when viewed from the side. The dashboard feels much sportier and it all leads to a cockpit-like design. In addition, there is enough space for a small car and it offers the usual comfort.

Two powertrain options

With the refresh for the Lexus NX, we still have two powertrain options available. The first is the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine used in the NX 200t, which allows for 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It can also be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, allowing for both front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive as an option.

The second engine will be used under the hood of the NX 300h model. It is a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine with 154 hp and a Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive system. The total power for this combination is said to be 194 hp. All-wheel drive is also available as an option for the hybrid NX model.

0-62 mph per hour and maximum speed

When it comes to the performance of the Lexus NX, the specs will not change overtly. They will correspond to an acceleration of 8.8 seconds to reach 0-62 mph per hour with a top speed of 116 mph. These statistics will carry over unchanged for the latest NX car.

Can we expect an improvement in fuel consumption?

By opting for a turbocharged version and displacing the V-6, the Lexus NX will get better fuel economy ratings. This is pretty good for the segment and comes as an expected choice. The 200t trim has an EPA rating of 22 mpg city, 28 highway, 25 combined, while the AWD version sacrifices 1 mpg to the combined rating. The hybrid 300h consumes 35/31/33 mpg for front-wheel drive and 33/30/32 mpg for all-wheel drive.

Dimensions

Compared to the original model, the Lexus NX does not move an inch. We expect the same size of the car as no dimensional changes were expected. The length of the car is 182.3 inches, the wheelbase is 104.7 inches, the height is 64.8 inches and the width is 73.6 inches. This also offers an interior passenger volume of 97 to 98 cu ft and a cargo capacity of 17 to 18 cu ft.

Safety assessments

Since the new Lexus NX has not been tested, the safety ratings for this new model will simply carry over. But the car already had some great safety specs, it comes with an excellent assortment of safety equipment as standard with eight airbags: front and side bags for the two front passengers, side airbags to cover the front and rear side windows, as well as a driver’s knee airbag and a new front-seat passenger airbag. The IIHS awarded it a Top Safety Pick + and gave it a good score for the overall categories, while the NHTSA scored it 5 stars across the board. The model will also add advanced technologies such as a frontal collision warning system, lane departure warning and automatic high beams.

Competitors in the segment

The latest Lexus NX will arrive in a crowded segment where more models will be waiting for it. But thanks to the brand name and a far more aggressive design than what the competition has to offer, we see a potentially great performance from the NX against such rival moles. The competition includes the Acura RDX , Audi Q5 , BMW X3 M , Mercedes-Benz GLC , Cadillac Lyriq and Volvo XC60 .
