Lexus RZ EV 2025: New Level of Luxury in the World of Electric SUVs

Lexus is getting into the EV game with the Lexus RZ EV SUV, which will likely share a platform with the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra . Since it’s a Lexus, we expect a much more plush cabin to go along with its more upscale exterior design. The powertrain should also be different in the Lexus, as patent filings have revealed the company’s plans to use the RZ450e moniker.

We know the luxury brand has been working on a dual-motor setup called Direct4 that would offer standard all-wheel drive and more power than the bZ4x’s 215-horsepower figure. So far, we’ve only seen teaser photos of the RZ’s exterior, but it looks sharply styled with a floating roof, ducktail spoiler, and aggressive headlights.

Lexus RZ EV design

Close examination reveals that the Lexus has a unique design. The RZ has a wide line from the front wheel arch that rises through the top of the front door panel, darkens as it crosses the tailgate, takes on a second crease below at that point, and ends at the base of the C-pillar.

The taillight on the tailgate is also larger on the RZ, suggesting that the door is longer than the bZ5X and that there may be more room for rear passengers than its blue siblings. And while the RZ taillights also span the side panels, they form a single continuous thin strip running through the rear of the car, with the Lexus name written above it.

Technical data of the power plant

Lexus didn’t confirm mechanical details for the new RZ, but the LF-Z Electrified concept featured a 536-hp electric powertrain that gave it a theoretical 0-100 mph time of 3 seconds. The production car is unlikely to be that powerful, but we’re hoping it offers more power than the bZ4X and Solterra, which offer buyers a choice of 201-hp singles and 215-hp twins.

The Lexus RZ is powered by two electric motors and features a new Direct4 all-wheel drive system with improved torque vectoring capabilities and a renewed focus on driving dynamics. The concept had a range of 600 km thanks to a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery under the floor, and the production version is expected to achieve exactly that.

Price Lexus RZ EV

We expect the Lexus RZ EV to be priced above the bZ4X, so we expect to pay around €39,000 for the base version of the Lexus. The RZ will join the Audi Q4 e-tron when it goes on sale, probably in the second half of next year as a model .
