The new Lotus Eletre EVs is a high-performance electric SUV that will be built in China and is set to go on sale in the Europe sometime in . While it will certainly be considerably heavier than any other Lotus models due to its large battery .

Lotus Eletre EVs

Lotus Eletre promises to deliver strong acceleration thanks to its electric motors, which will produce at least 600 horsepower. Lotus aims to compete with other electric SUV models including the Audi e-tron and BMW iX , but the Eletre bears more than a passing resemblance to the jaw-dropping Lamborghini Urus .

What’s new ?

The Lotus Eletre is the brand’s first SUV, offered in Base, S and R configurations. Base or S trims are recommended for maximum range with a 602-horsepower powertrain and an estimated range of 500 km per charge. Prices start under $85,000.

Electric motor, power and performance of electric vehicles

The Lotus Eletre EVs features a 602 hp twin-motor all-wheel drive system. In the basic configuration, it is able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The top R model has 906 hp. and accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Control and suspension details have yet to be announced, but should ensure crisp handling and driving fun.

Range, charging and battery life

Lotus says the Eletre’s battery pack will offer 112.0 kWh capacity, and claims base and S models will offer a range of 600 km on the European WLTP cycle. The range of the high-performance Eletre R is not as impressive, and Lotus estimates only about 302 miles per charge on the European WLTP, which would equate to about 400 km under EPA guidelines.

Interior, comfort and cargo

The Eletre is offered either as a four-seater with two individual buckets in the rear or as a five-seater with a three-seat rear bench. The cabin features interesting materials such as microfiber, stitched leather, wool blend fabric and milled bronze accents. In photos we can see some highly bolstered sports seats that give us hope for the Eletre’s performance potential.

Infotainment and connectivity

A large 15.1-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard and will run a version of parent company Geely’s ECARX infotainment system shared with the Smart #1 SUV, which isn’t sold in America. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard and a head-up display will be available along with an upgraded 23-speaker, 1500-watt audio system.
