McLaren is trying to expand its super series of cars by adding the McLaren 570 GT model to its range in . After the 570S and the 540C Coupe, which are unfortunately only a Euro version, the 570 GT model will be a good and beautiful addition to the ever-growing range of McLaren cars.

This new model brings with it a lot of intrigue and can very likely overthrow the popularity of the previous model, as it offers more luggage space in addition to the already basic features of those models. All this and more will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show before the release date.

The McLaren cars are ultra-fast, daily driver sports cars, as they have announced their Super series. They can easily compete against anything Mercedes has to do with them, and even take on a Porsche 911 Turbo. The McLaren 570 GT will retain these features and offer some additional capabilities, being much better suited to long, continent-destroying drives. It has a revised cabin and an elongated panoramic roof. We were a bit surprised if the car retained its 2-seat configuration, as there were some rumors of a 2+2 setup, but McLaren denied this.

The McLaren 570 GT will be built with the MonoCell II carbon fiber tub that was also used on the 570S and 540C coupes, as McLaren continues to incorporate this style of development of its cars. The good news is that the car has been confirmed for its release in the Europe. For more information on all the technical specifications of this car, check out the review.

Release date and price

The McLaren 570 GT release date is set for July 2016, but that only applies to UK customers as they will be the first to actually test drive the car. However, with the US release confirmed, we are actually getting a release date that will be in late . So we are getting the model a little earlier, which is great news. The 570 GT is priced at $199,850, the 570S is priced at $184,900 in the US market, while the 570GT has a starting price of £154,000 in the UK.

The exterior design of the McLaren 570 GT  is actually said to follow the 570S and borrow a lot from it. The front end of the car is pretty much the same as it uses a similar P1-inspired design and aerodynamic design. The trunk lid actually has strong crease lines that are present to optimize airflow over the front fenders of the car and the aero blades under the bumper are present to create a high-pressure area in front of the radiators.

There are some similarities in the side view of the car, with dihedral doors and large side vents, but smaller intakes on the rear fenders. The only change worth mentioning are the body-colored door inserts, which distinguish the 570 GT from the 570C and 570S models. But the side view also sees a slightly different shape, pointing towards the rear end of the car.

The ventilated hood is now replaced by a side-opening glass hatch that has a gap between the panoramic glass roof and the deck lid. It perhaps brings a less aggressive styling to the car but manages to keep it sporty. But with these changes, the aerodynamics have been shifted a bit, to make things better, a rear spoiler is used that is 10mm higher than that found on other vehicles and stabilizes the car a lot. There is also a revised boot lid in the lower section of the grille.

Interior changes of McLaren 570 GT

Inside the McLaren 570 GT, there have actually been a lot of changes, perhaps even more than we expected. Let’s start with the fixed glass panoramic roof that comes as standard. And due to the increased glass area, the model uses a revised climate control system with a dual-zone unit that is fully automatic and offers independent settings for both passengers in advance.

One of the most important features of the car is the extended luggage compartment. They call it a touring deck and it is located directly above the engine. You can access it via the side-opening glass hatch. It offers an additional storage space of 7.8 cubic feet and is completely wrapped in leather. The total storage space is 13.1 cubic feet, which is more than impressive for a sports car model.

The model also features a much quieter cabin, made possible not only by the newly revised exhaust system, but also by the standard McLaren Audio Plus sound system and specially developed Pirelli tires. An eight-speaker audio system is available as an option, featuring two 100mm mid/bass drives and two 25mm tweeters at the rear.

Other features include heated sports seats covered in high-quality leather, eight-way adjustment, a touchscreen for infotainment and navigation, nappa leather, a TFT instrument cluster and carbon fiber inserts.

McLaren 570 GT Engine Specifications

The McLaren 570 GT will continue to use the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that offers 562 horsepower at 7,400 rpm and 443 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. Since this is the same engine as the 570S Coupe, the 570 GT will be a bit slower due to the heavier roof.

Being 81 pounds heavier, it takes 3.4 seconds to do 0-62 mph and has a benchmark speed of 124 mph, achieved at 9.8 seconds, while the top speed is 204 mph. You can select the same Normal, Sport and Track driving modes as before, as the second two offer a similar experience, while the Normal is for smoother long-distance driving.
