Mercedes-AMG GT R 2025: price, consumption, picture, technical data.
What better way to promote your Mercedes-AMG GT R model than to get Luis Hamilton to do it for you? The vehicle was first shown on the track at Brooklands, where the famous Formula 1 driver was the first to drive the car in public and showed us what the new AMG GT R vehicle is capable of. This was also the first official reveal of the car and they did it in a spectacular way to announce the things to come this way.
Mercedes-AMG GT R
Mercedes’ AMG GT line was launched at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and was introduced as a newly established Mercedes AMG car that replaced the SLS AMG line. But the upcoming vehicle is actually smaller than the car it replaces and will ultimately compete with different models. Despite this, the vehicle was also able to spawn some performance options. One of them is the GT3 version, while the other is the Mercedes-AMG GT R that we are currently reviewing.

The procedure of the car has already announced the coming and Louis Hamilton has also done his thing to promote the car as much as possible. The manufacturers say that this is a road sports car that allows the vehicle to reach the next level of performance. As of now, it is the third and also the most powerful AMG model.
When is the release date of the Mercedes-AMG GT R?
After the Mercedes-AMG GT R was revealed, we also learned that the release date is coming quite early. Sales of the vehicle will begin in November, with deliveries starting as early as March of next year. It’s a very nice time to be a Mercedes fan.
What about the price?
The latest Mercedes-AMG GT R will receive a significant price increase compared to all the other AMG brothers from the lineup. This is rightly so, as this model is the most powerful and deserves the price it has. The car will be sold for 165,410 euros in the German base market, while in the European ones you can order it for 157,000 € (Euro).
Exterior design
As for the exterior of the Mercedes-AMG GT R, it resembles the base AMG GT but looks far more aggressive. It actually shares more details with the GT3 model but ultimately adds its own new parts. What sets it apart from the other AMG cars is a new grille that comes with vertically arranged slats and is called the Panamericana. We see some larger side intakes, newly made center vents and a splitter.
The vehicle will widen the front fenders, making way for the larger 20-inch wheels. The side of the car will add new side skirts and black mirror caps, giving the car an overall menacing styling with the newly designed brighter wheels that come in black. The rear will add a larger rear wing that will help with the car’s downforce. There is a massive exhaust system that is placed right in the middle, differentiating the rear end of the car from other products. Finally, the car will be finished with a Green Hell Magno paint job that will further emphasize its aggressiveness.
Within additions and design changes
The interior of the Mercedes-AMG GT R will also share similarities with the base AMG GT and GT3. In fact, the dashboard, center stack and center console are identical to the production car, but other parts have been changed in a sportier way and give the GT R model its edge. The seats are adjustable and very lightweight sports seats that offer more back support and are finished with Nappa leather. They also add a night package for this car that includes paddle shifters, bezel for the steering wheel, some door sills and a glossy black trunk element. But if you really want to make this car as sporty as possible, then you would include the Piano Lacquer package. You can also order your car in matte black carbon fiber, which is offered as an option.
A very powerful drivetrain
The most impressive part of the Mercedes-AMG GT R is, of course, the powertrain. They have used new turbochargers that allow for modified supercharger processing for the current 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and updated it in a great way. The model was able to increase both power and torque, resulting in a total of 577 horses and 516 pound-feet of twist. The changes made make the AMG GT R the most powerful of the three AMG cars, with 74 horsepower and a 35 pound-feet improvement over the GT S model.
0-62 mph per hour and maximum speed
With the improvements that the Mercedes-AMG GT R has received, we see an increase in speed and acceleration. When comparing this model to other cars in the range, it is both the fastest and the most powerful lift. To prove this, the AMG GT R car races to 0-62 mph per hour in 3.5 seconds while also reaching a top speed of 198 mph.
Fuel consumption values
The fuel specifications of the Mercedes-AMG GT R have not been released for now. Thanks to the changes made for the engine, it is quite difficult to determine what the changes will mean for the vehicle. But we are unlikely to get a significant improvement for the fuel stats. The car is a performance car, so you can expect performance consumption from the vehicle.
Dimensions and size
The Mercedes-AMG GT R is built differently than the other models in the range. If we want to compare it with the car it replaces, the SLS AMG, this one is much smaller. But the part where the care increases is the width, which is now 1.8 inches wider. It makes the car much more stable and allows it to find the necessary balance at higher speeds.
Safety for the car
The Mercedes-AMG GT R will, as far as we know, offer us the usual safety package. The vehicle carries over all the usual types of safety specifications from the base AMG and also uses those specified in the AM3 version of the vehicle. Through some packages they improve and offer additional equipment, but in general it is a standard set for a performance car like this. In this sporty version of the AMG Mercedes you feel very safe.
Competing vehicles
The latest Mercedes-AMG GT R was made for a specific purpose and the vehicle was meant to fight against a single competitor. That is the Porsche 911 GT3 cars and the new AMG GT R was designed to pair well with that car. We will see who comes out on top once sales begin.
