Mercedes Benz G-Klasse 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
After a long time, we are finally looking at a completely redesigned Mercedes Benz G-Class car. This is not just an update where the car changes a few parts and makes things work well and better together. This is a complete generational change we are talking about. This model is a very popular vehicle that has been around for almost 40 years and deserves a change of this proportion.
Mercedes Benz G-Class
The G-Class is also known as the G-Wagon or Geländewagen and has served many different purposes. Not only was it the go-to vehicle for the German Army, but it has also been used to tackle various types of terrain around the world and even performed on some challenging roads in California. This model is also often a vehicle of choice for the rich and famous due to its size and capability
In addition to the base version, there is also the more powerful AMG version. The insanely powerful G65 AMG is equipped with a twin-turbocharged V-12 engine and uses a G65 AMG 6×6 with three portal axles and a pickup bed.
After the spy photos surfaced, we quickly realized that this is not your regular update for the vehicle. We are really happy to see a model like the G-Class getting a generational change vehicle. It will bring new light to the model and make fans happy. Based on the photos released, we were able to gather a lot of interesting information ahead of the vehicle’s release date.
When is the release date for the Mercedes Benz G-Class?
The Mercedes Benz G-Class has just been announced, so there is less information to go by as the car’s release date. The car will certainly be released by as they have announced that they are aiming for a release by then. Judging by the styling of the images and also confirmed by the current information, this is a possibility for the car and we may not see it until then.
What is the price of the Mercedes Benz G-Class?
The prices of the Mercedes Benz G-Class car are sure to increase. Since it is a new generation model, it is expected that this model will see a price increase. The current range of G-Wagon models starts with a price of €119,900 (Euro) for the G550, €139,000 (Euro) for the AMG G63. The first choice is the AMG G65 and a price of €217,900 (Euro), all of which are given as the base RRP price. The new version is expected to start at €125,000 (Euro).
Exterior changes and updates of the Mercedes Benz G-Class
Looking at the test mule for the Mercedes Benz G-Class, we can immediately notice that the car has been widened. The model receives a dimensional change that increases the interior clearance for the car. The front end of the car expands outward from a narrow grille, and additional width is added on either side of the headlights. The full width starts just before the A-pillars, but still manages to retain the iconic styling of the G-Wagen that we are already used to.
The entire vehicle retains its iconic styling and design. The fender flares are still there and also the low beltline. The flat side glass and roof have been retained and the near-vertical windshield is also provided here. The rear has the same design with the spar tire added there. The changes made will certainly address the headlights and add some LEDs and also the tow bar additions are spotted which means that the usefulness of the car is also retained.
Interior and appearance of the Mercedes Benz G-Class
The interior of the Mercedes Benz G-Class has not been revealed yet, but we can expect it to be treated like the current model. There will be all kinds of interior accommodations inside. The current model takes all kinds of design cues and features from the S-Class and E-Class sedan models. We can expect the same to be the case for the , but certainly far less than the cars that have been unveiled.
We can also expect the standard front bucket and rear bench design to be used here as well, creating more space in the cargo area behind the second row of seats. Even with the extra interior space, the third row of seats is unlikely to be added.
Engine option and performance
The Mercedes Benz G-Class is predicted to add some new powertrain options. Those that will be included are sure to be both diesel and gasoline variants. In the Europas, we can expect a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 to be used. This engine is said to produce 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but by the time the car’s release date arrives, it could be updated to add even more power than it currently has. The engine will be mated to Mercedes’ seven-speed automatic transmission and will be fitted with an all-wheel drive and full-time AWD system with low-range gears.
Mercedes Benz G-Class 0-62 mph per hour acceleration and top speed
With the base version of the engine, the Mercedes Benz G-Class was able to accelerate to 0-62 mph per hour in 5.9 seconds, while the G63 AMG version achieved this in 5.4 seconds. Since we only have the information that the base engine is making a comeback, but with updated characteristics, we can also assume that the current rate may have dropped by a few tenths of a second.
Fuel consumption and ratings of the Mercedes Benz G-Class
In terms of fuel economy specs for the Mercedes Benz G-Class, we expect them to be more or less the same. Currently, there is no indication that the model might lose weight, and it gives us almost the same kind of EPA rating. With the current model setting an EPA record of 13 mpg city, 14 highway, 13 combined with the current engine, those specs could return.
Dimensions and trunk
The dimensions for the Mercedes Benz G-Class are being changed. However, the information currently known is that the car will be wider. This was not an issue for the earlier vehicle and it always had great interior space and design, which was appreciated. But with the new way of setup for this vehicle, we can expect the car to be wider and provide us with extra comfort. Also confirmed is the trunk capacity, which also gets some extra nods.
Security settings
The new Mercedes Benz G-Class will hopefully update the safety settings for the car. The previous version was not tested by the IIHS or NHTSA, but due to the weight and lack of active safety features, such big numbers were not released. Standard equipment includes radar cruise control and blind spot monitors, as well as a rearview camera and parking sensors. It helps with rear visibility for the car, which frankly isn’t all that great. The latest version of the G-Class will update the features and we hope for a much better safety rating than the last one.
Rivals list
The SUV segment will welcome the Mercedes Benz G-Class with open hands, but there you will find some pre-existing models that could thwart the possibility of being at the top of the segment. Cars like the Land Rover Range Rover and the Lexus LX570 are some that we are used to seeing in the luxury segment and that pose a major obstacle. But the legendary name of the G Wagon will surely give it an advantage of its own.
