Mercedes-Benz GLC-Klasse 2025: Market Conquest and Continuity of the GLK-Class.
The newly acclaimed Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class steals all the spotlights from all other models available in the market. Not only that, it also embraces all the novelties and even overshadows the other Mercedes brands. The GLK-Class is finally going into a well-deserved retirement as it has ended its seven-year stint on the market.
Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class
But the automotive industry is certainly not pleasant as it is unforgiving, so the outdated models must soon be replaced by the latest ones. That is what is happening here. The newly launched GLC class models are now being welcomed and everything shows that Mercedes’ rebranding plan is working and showing results.
What Mercedes is trying to do with their rebranding is to make it much easier for them and the fans. The new GLC and C-Class models will use the same type of platform as they both come from a compact segment. It makes it easy to assimilate the brands that way. The GLC models will be completely updated and the versions of the models they replace will be redesigned, so it’s simply a car that just changes its name.
The latest slate of Mercedes vehicles will change the lineup a bit. This time, the GLC-Class will no longer be the entry-level vehicle as it has increased in size, so the newly launched GLA-Class is the smallest currently available. This is a part of their strategy that includes changing and shaping the roster a bit, bringing more versatility to the segment and being much more useful to buyers.
The story goes that although the car was called GLK, it managed to exceed all the sales expectations predicted for it. The vehicle was first introduced in 2010 and is the biggest success in 2013, with sales topping the charts and the GLC being one of the best-selling models from the entire Mercedes range. Will the innovations of the new model and the name change mean more good things to come for the brand? Since it was looking a bit dated and sales hadn’t been at their peak recently, this would mean that the model could do with such a change.
The release date is at the end of the year, so let’s see what the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class brings to make it have already wowed reviewers so much.
When is the release date for the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class?
It was announced that the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will be released this year. The news about the changes that the vehicle received came quickly. It was actually an expected move, as everyone knew that the GLK was getting old in the tooth. What is interesting is that the model is changing its name. But since Mercedes has already started this trend and it seems much more logical to do it this way, it is still acceptable for them to do it. It is also good to say that the release date is already set and that eth car will start its sales in November this year. All those who want to get the car early should know that it is already on the way.
What is the price of the car?
The price of the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class models has already been set and people can already plan if they want to buy this car. Currently, the published prices do not show much difference from the car we had before, but there is an increase. But the increase is in the same category as we would say when a model gets a restyling or a new generation version. That is exactly what is happening here. The GLK is updated into the GLC and still retains its value and potential. The legacy that the previous model created for the compact segment is simply continued with the latest car. All in all, the GLC300 now costs €38,950 (Euro), while the GLC300 4MATIC version costs €40,950 (Euro), both as a base MSRP rating.
Exterior view of the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class looks really good. People have thought that this model is more like the GLK-Class that it replaced, but in fact, it is more in the direction of the newly launched GLE-Class models. Since the car came out before and it is the new smallest model in the Mercedes lineup, they just saw it as fitting that it would be a great idea to carry over the details from that car to the new one. And it is. The model is more elegant and modern and despite its rugged styling, it still has its own SUV-like design. What is also surprising is that the car has excellent aerodynamics while being able to do a little off-roading. The approach and departure angle of the vehicle is 28 degrees and is the same for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models. Thus, this model has a complete package and not only does it mean that it is luxurious. You can take it anywhere and it will come back with a great deal for you.
Interior modifications and changes
The interior of the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is where we see the biggest differences between the previous GLK models. It actually doesn’t look like the model it replaced and now stands for. In fact, the dimensional improvements alone are enough to separate these two cars. The vehicle has evolved in some ways and although it occupies the same segment as before, it has many advantages that other models competing here don’t have.
The interior of the GLC-Class today mostly stays on the current Mercedes-based SUVs that we have already seen on the market. This is not a bad thing at all, as the models we have been able to see here have proven to be staples of the market and really hold a bar to some other vehicles. The materials and design alone are enough to make this car even more desirable. The technology is also updated and the dashboard with the sporty three-spoke steering wheel looks great.
Interior roominess is not very high. Passengers will be able to enjoy the GLC-Class more than before and it seems that it will present us with a value that the previous car did not have. The wheelbase is wider so there is more room for your legs and there is even an expanded cargo area that will give you extra space on long journeys and trips where you may want to pack more than you would initially carry.
Some powertrain statistics
Interestingly, it was announced that the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will initially launch with only one engine option, but this could change along the way. It is implied, and the manufacturers even said themselves, that they plan to expand the engine setup of the GLC-Class models for the future, and it may include more than one engine. For now, however, the model will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four as an option for the American audience. This engine will deliver 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Both the GLC300 and GLC300 4MATIC will use a nine-speed 9GTronic automatic transmission.
In Europe, the GLC offers more options. The GLC250 is powered by a petrol engine and produces (211 hp / 155 kW, the GLC220d has a diesel under the hood with an output of 170 hp / 125 kW. The GLC250d also has a diesel engine, but the output is 204 hp / 150 kW. Finally, we also have the plug-in hybrid version of the GLC350e with 327 hp / 240 kW.
Top speed and 0-62 mph per hour
The US version of the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will not expand its stats too much compared to before. With the offered engine under the hood, we see the car reaching the 0-100 km per hour mark in about 6.5 seconds, while its top speed remains in the range of 130 mph. All in all, the output is suitable for the vehicle’s stats and acceleration ratings.
What will the fuel consumption be?
The latest Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will still be able to crank out some decent millage numbers, and people will probably be happy with what the car can crank out. Based on recent specs and EPA records, the GLC300 will be able to produce 22 mpg city, 28 highway, 24 combined, while the AWD versions will consume 21/28/24 mpg. This is kind of standard fare, so it wasn’t something to worry about, nor really get excited about.
The vehicle has grown slightly
When comparing the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class with its predecessor, we will immediately notice that the model has gained a few inches. This means that the GLC-Class is no longer the entry-level model in the Mercedes lineup, as that spot is no longer occupied by the GLA-Class. Nevertheless, they have decided to give the car more than just an update or a redesign, and they are adding more value to it. This gives the vehicle more comfort inside and makes things much more interesting. So the numbers now stand at a full length of 183.3 inches with a wheelbase of 113.1 inches. The width is 74.4 inches and the height is 64.5 inches. As for the interior, it will expand the passenger volume to 98 cu ft and the cargo area will offer 19 cu ft of space.
Security images
The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is meant to be a good and very safe car, as we all would have expected. However, the model earns much of its top features through additional security that you have to pay extra for. So if you really want the highest level of protection, you’ll have to spill your money a little and decide what you need. Standard features include side pockets for the driver and front passenger, and a window pocket for both rows of seats. If you want separate rear side pockets, you’ll have to order them separately. With standard automatic emergency braking comes Collision Prevention Assist Plus, too. The Premium 3 package includes all the advanced trim and assistive features like adaptive cruise control, full-speed automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and more. All in all,
Other models in the segment
If the name of the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class has changed, it does not mean that the segment has also changed. The model will continue to compete in the compact segment, although it will be slightly larger compared to the previous model. However, the growth in size is not that strong, so here it still stands alongside the competition, which can be called very well known. The model will be updated and will receive all the luxury and classy features, but it will still take some time, so we will see how well it will hold up against all the other vehicles available on the market. The range includes additions such as the BMW X3 , Lexus NX and the Audi Q5 , all of which are known enemies here. The question remains whether the new Mercedes model will manage to sell them this year or whether it will continue to idle like the previous models.
