Mercedes-Benz GLE 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

We see the first spy photos of a Mercedes-Benz GLE, which is also supposed to mark the next-generation model for this car. But you may find this as strange as the model actually made its first official debut in 2016, but since there were some name changes as Mercedes’ designers tend to do this in a very confusing way, we have a new-generation GLE-class model now in our hands.

But the old GLE models will soon be forgotten with the introduction of the new versions, which carry different nomenclature and an entirely new name. We expect the latest test mule to be covered in an unusual amount of upholstery and camouflage. The first spy photos to surface show a heavily revised model, likely to match some new design features that make it more than just a rebadged ML car.

When the car was spotted testing, the question of the release date quickly arose. Unfortunately, we can’t expect it to be anytime soon, but we hope to see the car this year. Our review will help you determine the current status of the Mercedes-Benz GLE and find out what’s available for them.

When is the release date expected?

The latest Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is not expected to be unveiled yet, but based on the current design of the car, we can start preparing for the car soon. In fact, we will probably get a presentation of this model soon when the final parts of its design are completed, and a release date will follow, most likely set sometime in when the car goes on sale.

What could the price be?

It is said that the predicted price of the Mercedes-Benz GLE will likely only increase by €1,000 compared to the current price. Thus, the outgoing model has a base MSRP of $51,100 for the entry-level GLE350 trim, while the addition of an a4MATIC version increases the price to $53,600. The GLE400 4MATIC costs €64,600, while the GLE550e plug-in costs €65,550. In Europe, we only have a single diesel variant, the GLE300d 4MATIC, and this starts at €52,500.

Potentially great external updates

As things stand, the Mercedes-Benz GLE will likely receive a massive refresh for the front end. The heaviest amount of camouflage is present for the front end of the car and the spy photos don’t really show much, but it’s obvious to spot some parts if you know where to look. The front of the hood will change the most and there are some potential new, sharper hood liens. The corner vents will remain, but may be larger and provide more functionality for this vehicle. The air dam will also likely be larger than in the current look.

When you look at the vehicle from the side, the sharp body line that starts from the top of the front wheel arch appears to have been removed. It seems that the body line is expected to curve upwards this time, while the wheel arches will be significantly flared compared to before. The rear will also change dramatically and much of it seems to be unknown. But based on what we could make out here, the rear quarter glass may not wrap around the tailgate. The draft area on the hatch is more pronounced and the hatch itself looks a bit longer. The taillights are also expected to change with a sleek LED layout.

What could the inside be like?

There isn’t much to go on for the Mercedes-Benz GLE’s interior yet, but we do have some aspirations. When the C-Class model was introduced, it showcased one of the best-looking cabins seen recently. It was then transferred to the E-Class and we got to witness how the layout worked there. We hope something similar happens here and the GLE-Class gets the same treatment. Although the single image of the car’s interior doesn’t fully confirm that the Mercedes-Benz GLE will do the same, it actually looks pretty similar.

We expect a raised center console to match that of current Mercedes cars. We also expect a new instrument cluster, which could work well for the car here as well. This also promotes a wide infotainment display with circular HVAC vents. The car is expected to have a dual-tone interior with leather and soft-touch surfaces, while only the higher trims could get a rear seat infotainment system.

No changes in the powertrain department

It’s not yet clear whether the Mercedes-Benz GLE will decide to carry over the current engine lineup or opt for an entirely new engine lineup. If they decide to keep it simple and keep the current one, we expect a 3.5-liter V-6 engine rated at 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque for the GLE350, or a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 rated at 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The base GLE350 4MATIC and GLE400 4MATIC can tow 7,200 pounds, while the two-wheel drive 350 can tow 6,600 pounds. The GLE550e plug-in uses a 3.0-liter engine from the GLE400, but combines it with an electronic evening to produce a total output of 436 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The diesel variant uses a 2.0-liter engine.

Mercedes-Benz GLE 0-62 mph per hour and top speed

If they decide to keep the same engine setup as now for the Mercedes-Benz GLE, we’ll see the same performance as before. The outgoing model achieves a 0-62mph time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 132mpg. These will only change if they opt for a completely different powertrain setup.

Fuel consumption and consumption

The same goes for the fuel economy of the Mercedes-Benz GLE. These will likely remain the same as well. No other changes have been mentioned regarding the current improvements in fuel specs. The current EPA figure gives us a fuel economy of 18 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. It would be nice if they worked on improving it as it would make the car far more competitive in the market.

Size and load capacity

It seems that they are planning to keep the Mercedes-Benz GLE the same size as before. There are no particular reasons to expand the vehicle and change its size, so it is quite understandable to keep it that way. The length of the car is 189.1 inches, the wheelbase is 114.8 inches, the height is 70.7 inches, and the width is 75.8 inches. The passenger volume is quite good as it gives 103 cubic feet and the cargo space is also exceptional with 38 cubic feet of space.

Transferred security documents

While the latest Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class will carry over the safety of its predecessor, it will certainly offer something new to sweeten the deal. It will probably base safety mostly on the M-Class cars, as the previous car also did the same. So we will get adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitors, active lane control and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Alongside this standard equipment are airbags, including front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger, curtain airbags for both rows and a knee airbag for the driver, but also an additional standard rearview camera and an optional surround-view camera system.

What are the possible competing cars?

The surprise release of a next-generation Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class car will bring some newer competitors for this brand. We consider cars like the latest BMW X5 and also the Audi Q7 models as the closest the segment can offer to the GLE-Class vehicle.
