Mercedes Benz S-Klasse 2025: An updated flagship to maintain leadership
As the competitors are catching up, the Mercedes Benz S-Class car will get a new face in . Since this car ran unhindered for a while as the competitors were already old in 2013 when this design appeared, the car was a great outlier compared to the competition.
Mercedes Benz S-Class
But now, if they strike back with their own updates, the S-Class will get its own updated version. The release date for this mid is planned .
The current Mercedes Benz S-Class was launched in 2013 and was a commendable entry. The car made some claims that gave us a very innovative model. Compared to the previous model, the S-Class was a much sportier and more elegant vehicle to begin with. It offers a fantastic ride and great acceleration performances along with added comfort inside. But the biggest praise it had received was in terms of its safety as it wrote the book with the added package on it.
The new Mercedes Benz S-Class was seen roaming the streets, but the camouflaged version of the car didn’t show too much camouflage. The images released show us a car that hasn’t changed that much compared to the current version. It seems that the Germans have decided to keep the same design and update the interior with the latest Mercedes features that have been added to some of their cars over the past two years. Also, an update for the engine is expected.
When is the release date for the Mercedes Benz S-Class?
The date for the Mercedes Benz S-Class is not yet set, we can expect it to be by for sure. Mercedes cannot afford to let the rivals get the upper hand over them and will release a setup that will come out as soon as possible. But they will not rush it, so expect a release date for the car by early or at least mid-year.
How much does the Mercedes Benz S-Class cost?
You can expect the updated version of the Mercedes Benz S-Class to cost a bit more than the current one. The current version of the car has a base MSRP of €95,650 for the S550 and S550e options, while the S550 4Matic starts at €98,650 and the top-of-the-line S600 is priced at €169,050. Those ratings will surely get a bump for the latest version.
Exterior design
This is a design for the Mercedes Benz S-Class, so don’t expect a lot of changes. As with most designs, the car will just take a few nips and tucks here and there. There will also be some revised headlights and taillights. We expect the bumper to be revised as well and with it come the larger air intakes and a redesigned center vent. The grille design will also be new and alongside the regular four-slot layout, three of them will now be made. The new elements are expected to make the S-Class look even sportier than before.
The rear of the Mercedes Benz S-Class has not changed at all. Everything seems to look the same, but we expect the taillights to change when the production version comes out. We expect the taillights to get revised LEDs compared to last time. There will also probably be some new wheels added with a different design, and we can also expect new colors to be offered as well.
Interior design
The interior of the Mercedes Benz S-Class will get much more attention than the exterior. We now expect a completely new and modernistic approach to this car. The technological updates will be the first thing that will be added here and may be taken from the current E-Class model. Visually, we can expect it to be almost the same, but more premium materials will be offered.
One of the better devices on offer here is the new steering wheel with touch-sensitive buttons. This is a brand new steering that has just been introduced for the E-Class and recognises horizontal and vertical swipes just like you would on your smartphone. This gives the driver the ability to use the infotainment system more effectively and safely.
The important part of the Mercedes Benz S-Class upgrade will be a redesigned infotainment system that will have new buttons and a new menu layout. It will surely also carry over the same from the E-Class but with minor changes. Included is the energy-saving LED interior that is now available in 64 different colors. Finally, there is an optional Drive Pilot system that allows you to follow the cars up to a speed of 200 km/h. It helps you to handle driving better and also increases safety.
Engine options
It seems that the same engine options will be used for the Mercedes Benz S-Class. The only change we expect is that these versions will be improved and redesigned, which will result in more power for them. The S550 and S550 4Matic trims will come with a 4.7-liter V8 engine that produces 449 horsepower. The twin-turbo, a 3.0-liter V6, and an electric motor will be used for the S550e, offering 329 horses. The most powerful is the S600 option, which uses a 6.0-liter V-12 and produces 523 horsepower. We expect that updating will add about 15 horsepower to each of these units for improved performance.
0-62 mph per hour Technical data
Acceleration rates for the Mercedes Benz S-Class will also likely change with the outgoing rats. Depending on how they decide to upgrade the engines, we may get better engine acceleration specs. The current base 0-100 km per hour performance is 4.8 seconds for the base version, 5.2 seconds for the hybrid version, and the 3.9 second range achieved by the S65 AMG models.
Fuel consumption
One of the changes that was not mentioned in the Mercedes Benz S-Class fuel economy. It makes us think that the car will improve the characteristics and it certainly will. At the moment we do not know what they plan to do with it, but we can say that it could stay pretty close to the current specifications. The base S550 version achieved an EPA rating of 17 mpg city, 26 highway, 20 combined, while the all-wheel drive 4Matic version was rated at 16/26/19 mpg and the S550 4Matic Coupe version 16/24/19 mpg. The S600 has a rating of 14/21/16 mpg and the S550e Plug-In Hybrid has the best with a combined rating of 26 mpg.
Dimensions
Since it is a design version, the Mercedes Benz S-Class will retain its size. It is rare that dimensions are changed when it comes to designing the cars, and while we don’t get any in this case, the model will also retain its current size and trunk capacity.
Safety specifications and ratings
The next Mercedes Benz S-Class will likely have some great safety specs. The previous models have always performed well and it is known that these cars have always given some very nice safety settings. Due to the price of the car, no crash tests have been done by either the IIHS or the NHTSA, but the car has always proven to be a safe option. Thanks to many devices that come in the car, you have earned the right to say how safe it actually is.
Standard features on previous models included rear seat belts; anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control; adaptive brake lights, adaptive head restraints, dual airbags front, front and rear; and curtain airbags. There is also a wide range of optional equipment and for the version we can expect some new and enhanced options to be implemented here.
Competing cars
The Mercedes Benz S-Class will have a tougher job with the completion compared to its predecessor. The current model had no competitors in 2013 as most of the cars in the segment were already old models. This time the pictures have changed and the class needs to be updated to catch up with the cars in the segment. The BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 have already received their updates, have started the race and this year the Cadillac CT6 has also joined. This makes the job for the S-Class much harder than it actually seems.
