Mercedes-Maybach EQS 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
At Mercedes-Benz itself, a distinction must be made between the two different EQS models. Yes, the EQS comes in several flavors. If there is only EQS, then it is the five-door hatchback. When it comes to the sports utility vehicle that is yet to be presented, the manufacturer calls the model Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV. So for Maybach, there is no need to differentiate.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS
The luxury label only opts for the four- to five-seater SUV body. The car manufacturer sees more potential in the softroader than in the fastback, as the market share of softroaders in the higher segments is growing rapidly at the expense of sedans. Maybach also opts for the SUV because, in contrast to the SUV, the five-door body offers a more spacious rear that can be decorated as a lounge.
We were at the IAA for you and photographed the Maybach electric car and brought back a few impressions. Electric SUVs are popular because they offer a lot of range and space.
The first fully electric Maybach model will be an SUV based on the modular architecture for luxury and executive class electric cars. It will use similar technology to the EQS sedan to be a high-tech electric alternative to the Mercedes GLS and BMW X7 . It is one of 10 new electric EQ models that Mercedes will launch in the coming years.
Exterior design
This cabin features sleek, state-of-the-art adjustable bucket seats divided by a huge floating center console. The bright, clean, modern surfaces have tasteful yet complex accents, combining the modernist simplicity of a lounge with the old-world luxury that has defined Mercedes for generations. I’ll temper my expectations as it’s just a concept, but if Mercedes is able to produce something like this, I’ll be amazed.
The complicated and mid-century feel of Mercedes’ best interiors struck me as fundamentally incompatible with the trend toward technology-centric, minimalist designs. Here, however, they’re married more believably than I thought possible to create one of the most interesting and refreshing interior design themes I’ve ever seen.
Again, that’s just based on the rear seats, as Mercedes has only revealed one image of the concept. The real thing can’t be far away. Mercedes says the EQS SUV will go into production in , with the Maybach version to follow. The exterior may be flashy and the price will certainly catch the eye, but if it has an interior like this, the rest is irrelevant to me. For those who are interested, we’ll likely learn more about the powertrain and technology in the coming year.
Interior
The “spies” managed to penetrate the interior of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, where they made sure that the assumptions of most experts were correct. The cockpit is almost identical to the solutions used in the EQS sedan, which means the presence of a fancy Hyperscreen with at least 8 processors, 24 GB of RAM and Mercedes’ most advanced software to date called MBUX.
Most likely, there will also be a separate screen in front of the passenger seat, but so far this part of the front panel is hidden by covers.
Technical filling and power reserve
Mercedes’ new electric platform already offers several drive options, but the large off-road EQS clearly requires a two-engine unit that offers permanent all-wheel drive. This produces 385 kW (523 hp) in a sedan, and according to preliminary information, it is increased to 533 kW (715 hp) in a crossover.
An equally important component is the battery, and the Germans already have a solid 107.8 kWh energy storage unit that will help the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV reach at least 770 km. There are also less powerful batteries in the range, including a 90-kilowatt battery, which allows the Germans to bring cheaper modifications to the market.
Prices and sales start
Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV: Prices and sales launch The Mercedes-Maybach EQS will be on display at the IAA in Munich. It is then scheduled to go into series production on the European market in and the starting price for the Bose configuration starts at €80,000.
